Ask a former Ubisoft employee anything.

I was with them for almost 5 years, being one of the seniors of their QA department.
>>
Kill yourself, rag head.
>>
>ubisoft
>QA
nice meme
>>
Do you ever consider suicide when working for maplecucks?
>>
You guys didn't have to do much of anything did you? What did you fill your empty schedules at work with?
>>
>>329430763

Not really, no.
>>
>>329430795

Nice bash, but no. There are times when there's a lot to do, and times we had absolutely nothing, cause the devs are retarded af.
>>
>>329430762

do you know how things work in real life, outside of 4chan and your mom's basement? trust me when I say this: most of the fuck-ups that Ubi does with their games are hardly ever QA related
>>
>>329430670
Is it normal for QA people to get shit on/deal with attitude from Devs when bringing issues to their attention?
>>
>>329430670
>QA department.
So you sat in an empty room and did nothing for 5 years? Whats that pay and is it worth the time spent doing nothing in an empty room?
>>
>>329431185

most of the time it all goes smoothly, but of course there are some that consider themselves above us. yes, they give us attitude and sometimes they just prove how retarded they are and have 0 knowledge of how the games work outside the code. some have the "i'm the god of this domain" attitude and everything they say is the letter of law. i can;t even count how many valid bugs have been closed as a feature or as "will not fix" because they were behind the schedule.
>>
>>329431409

if a building of 1000+ employees and a floor of 100+ people is an empty room, then yes, I stood in an empty room for almost 5 years.
the pay is shit. something like 210 euros for a fresh employee and it grows exponentially as you progress in the firm.
>>
So you were there just in time for them to turn into shit. How was the company? Was it filled with women?
assuming you're not lying out of your ass, which you probably are
>>
any proof or evidence that you worked at Ubisoft?
>>
>>329430670
Quick question. Are all ubisoft games intentionally in the same universe or is that just a meme?
>>
>>329430670
How's Mankind Divided?
>>
>>329431959

It was nice for 1 - 1.5 years and then they started to turn it into something very corporate and less leisurely. As for the women, the answer is: no. Not a whole bunch of women. Probably 10% of the total number of people there.
>>
>>329430827
>Not really, no.

Are you a (fellow) maplenigger?
>>
>>329432076

They're probably too lazy or not that smart to come up with something new. And they always try to add these old and shitty "easter eggs" that relate to other games they got out. My guess is they're just trying to be smart/cool.
>>
>>329432172

No. Not from mapleland.
>>
>>329430670
I assume it's false information you're giving because with this info it probably wouldn't be too hard for them to find out who you are
>>
>>329432096
I have no clue.
>>
>>329430670
Lying scum! Ubi doesn't have any qa
>>
>>329430670
Why were you so bad at your job?
>>
>>329430670
How much effort is actually put into PC QA?
>>
>>329430670
What was it like sucking cock to make deadlines and never achieving them?
>>
>>329430670
How did you guys finally decide to make a decent game (Siege) after about 10 years of non-stop trash?
>>
>>329431721
>the pay is shit.
>something like 210 euros for a fresh employee
>and it grows exponentially as you progress in the firm.
>exponentially

doesn't sound so bad
>>
>>329432813
>siege
>decent
sick meme /b/ro
>>
>>329432813
>siege
Just wish it was a new IP and instead we'd get a proper R6 sequel.
>>
>>329432803
sucks cock
>>
>>329432940
I don't think you do

look at how hard they raped ghost recon
>>
>>329432797
i'd have to say quite a lot. lots of human/time resources. especially with Siege. can't say the same with others.
>>
What were your focus groups, please tell me Ubisoft relies on cold calling so I can neck myself for having bought any of their games.
>>
>>329432795
i wish we could agree on that, but it's not happening
>>
>>329433028
Didn't say i want a ubisoft-style R6 sequel. I said i want a proper sequel. Keep the MP the way it is right now in Siege but give me a real SP campaign with multiple fire teams, planning stages during the mission briefing and full control over the AI soldiers.
>>
Summarize 5 years of your job life in one sentence.

You guys are good at that right, one sentence responses.
>>
>>329430670
>5 years, being one of the seniors of their QA department.
why were you content with your job? Why didn't you use QA as a stepping stone

How many famous industry people you saw go through the QA?
>>
How's the division?

You got fired?

Is it downgraded to the ground? Was the it's not fair to have better graphics true?
>>
>>329430670
Is it yuu-bee-soft or ooh-bee-soft?
>>
>>329432829
As you progress. You have to actually progress.

Guess what they actively prevent you from doing at these companies.
>>
Do you guys do any test automation?
>>
>>329430670
How big is your dick?
>>
>>329431087
Siege, Watchdogs, and basically every other Ubisoft release on PC says otherwise.
>>
>>329430670
What would you say is Ubisoft's biggest problem?
>>
>>329431087
With an attitude like that I can see why you didn't progress beyond a QA role
>>
Whats the fucking deal with Tom clancy's hate for jumping?

Any idea how long they plan to make content for The Division before letting it slide into a dark dark corner and die?
>>
>>329433503
yeah nah
A better trained, smarter talent means better looking games, pitches, concepts and artwork that can all be used to create a better game that sells better.
Or in case of ubi: To create more hype.

In foundry 42, they give employees a month off sometimes for them to get better at their weak areas.

Shitload of people that work in other companies and in tt itself, have started from TT-fusions QA
>>
>>329430919

>blaming others for doing your job badly

Yes, seems like a ubisoft employee
>>
>>329430670
When's Rayman 4
>>
>>329430670
Who's the "ideas guy" at Ubisoft? That motherfucker needs to get fired since every recent game from Ubi sans Rayman has been absolute trash.
>>
>>329432519
Where do you live then?
>>
>>329433338

Thank you, will not come again.
>>
>>329433380

I was content to an extent. As you grow, your financial expectations grow. Plus there was nothing more for me to learn. I also didn't say I haven't used this experience to move forward to another area. I did. Like most of former game-qa guys, I now work in software.

I have met exactly 0 famous people. We didn't get to rub shoulders with the bug guys.
>>
>>329434276
I'm happy you didn't do the traditional 4chan underachivnig thing and actually moved forward

Grats man!
>>
>>329433416

Left before Division. I don't know how it is, really.
I left for a better job.
>>
>>329433498

yuu-bee-soft
>>
>>329433512

The answer is no. All testing is done manually.
>>
>>329433561

Around 7 inches give or take 6.
>>
>>329433687

Probably lack of imagination. They're stumped on the same old concepts. Luckily For Honor seems like a good way to break the cycle.
>>
>>329434616
How about internally? You always hear people complaining about how Ubisoft games never work or are boring, are they just incompetent or rushed?
>>
>>329433776

That and the lack of motivation. But trust me that the qa gets the job done and quite good and accurate. I'm not saying there are no screw-ups, omissions etc. It's just that most of the time they are overburdened with tasks that have been done already and the issues were not fixed. Time is wasted majorly. QA can find and trigger the alarm on issues, but they can't fix them.
>>
>>329434742

I'd say rushed is the best word to describe the situation. As I said in another comment, in my opinion the biggest internal issue might be the lack of motivation people get after a while (1-2 years). They don't really know how to keep their "shit-tier" employees happy and motivated. As a qa guy you just feel expendable.
>>
>>329434059

I honestly have no clue who is behind the ideas.
>>
>>329433820

Let's ask him cause I have no clue. Every game in which you cannot jump seems odd. Especially 3rd person ones like WD.

I left long before Division.
>>
>>329434564
Can you post pics?
>>
>>329435207
Sure, I'll just whip my dick out at work and do it.
>>
>>329430670
They have a QA department?
>>
I'm a frenchfag who wants to make vidya and I'm pretty good at coding, should I work for ubi?
>>
>>329431721
210€...
You cant live with 210€, tell me your secrets, cockroaches eater.
>>
>>329435556

If you don't want to or can't go indie, I guess. Or you can try at other studios.
>>
>>329435509

The joke is getting old.
>>
>>329430670
How often is there cocaine snorting/ sex in the bathroom? A la Wolf of Wall Street
>>
>>329435623

You do what most normal people do after leaving your parents house: get flat-mates and drink so you don't worry about being hungry.
>>
>>329435789
But i left my parents house, got flat mates and im earning 1900€, shitty job m8.
>>
>>329435732

None that I know of.
>>
>>329435863

The perks of not living in a 3rd world country, I guess. Or you're just a delusional NEET.
>>
>>329435985
The land of the not-free, britbongland.

Where you working in russia or someshit?

yay
>>
>>329436185
i respect your opinion
>>
>>329430670
From your other answers it looks like you were at Montreal. Is that correct? Also, when did you leave?
>>
>>329431721
Wait. Monthly? Thats not even legal and im from an europoor meme country.
>>
Everyones been shitting on Ubi non stop but every time I play an Ubi game I have fun. I guarantee the majority of the people who shit on ubi barely play any games.
