I never got to play it as a kid because I was only 1 when it came out but this shit is great. I like the sprite character designs and gameboy music.

The midi music sounds better than the remixes.
The Gen 1 engine was much less focused on EVs and IVs and micromanaging than the Gen 3 engine.
You only need to buy two cartridges to fill out your pokedex, not 4.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. There was no focus on it because the game didn't draw attention to it with stuff like berries and natures and crap. The game wasn't designed for autistic minmaxing to the degree that gen 3 was.

Actually it's better. Because it reduces standard deviation of final stats, if the player plays with complete disregard to it.
In fact the IV system consisted off numbers from 0~15, rather than 0~31. So you have alot less variation to consider.
And since stat exp grows with the AI's pokemon, it's much harder to 1HKO the opponents pokemon as they get EV spreads akin to this:
255/255/255/255/255/255
rather than in RSE/DPPt/BW/XY, where AI EV spreads are:
0/0/0/0/0/0
or
0/255/0/255/0/0
Gen 1 and 2 were better for in-game.

There isn't one. You can even transfer the monsters you catch in fire red to ORAS right now if you have the intermediary games.
I guess if you want to do a bunch of glitch runs, it's worth it. That's why I'm playing through it.
