If you're wanting something like New Vegas don't. If you want a game where you can just dick around go for it.
The lore is alright, but the dialog and other RPG elements were gutted and it really takes away from the experience. I'd say it's worth like $40.

I'd say $35, but that's just because of all the nothing quests; you actually felt like you were accomplishing something in Vegas.

Just wait till they release a goty edition or complete edition or whatever they'll call it and then play it.
It's not worth the full price or anywhere near it. The world is empty and the quests are dreadfully boring. Any interesting settlement you stumble upon in the wasteland ends up being a raider camp and you have to kill everyone there instead of having more quests to do. The settlements that they do allow you to capture and modify are all shit torn apart places and you can't restore buildings or anything. You only get quests from the same 10 people and the endless ones will send you to places you just cleared out the mission before. The guns are extremely limited and it is not worth it to scavenge in the game at all, rare weapons that aren't big guns like some super rare knife I found are worth almost nothing. Guns don't deteriorate so if you find one combat rifle and mod it then you don't really need to worry about weapons much anymore.
