I did die to the first enemy. Wasn't used to the speed compared to DaS/DaS2.
Since then I just use visceral attacks as the wolves are pretty prone to them.
I went through the entire game without knowing about visceral attacks. I could parry but I fucked up the riposte like 6 times and assumed it wasn't in the game like the bosses in DS2.
Also I never found out about backstabs because at no point did I think charging an r2 would be necessary.

I also noticed with some enemies like the pale lmao priests you will cancel the animation to start the visceral but with enemies like the big guys with a brick or the cthulhu giants you have to wait for the animation to finish or a R1 attack will get queued
