Compare it to Lara Croft
The CG model of the first game just had two spheres attached and the devs increased their size. They stood out because they were just that, no to mention the rest of the body was lowpoly and rather unrefined and the boobs were really just 2 solid spheres with no physics to them.
As the games went on and they nailed the body design much better and unerstood that boobs are soft and not solid and don't poke out of the chest as much under tight clothing, the boobs looked more natural and did't stand out because they were just 2 seperate entities glued to the body
