Is this worth playing if I already have seen the anime?
The anime is shit.
If you watched the anime then it's completely ruined. Not just because the spoilers make the game, but also because the anime was trash.

The anime is pretty much just the game. But animated.
Even the music is almost comparable scene for scene.
The anime was bad but it's not like the game is that much better just so we're clear. The 'game' is bad too just in a different way.

I tried watching the anime after playing the game.
It's absolute trash.
All the cases were rushed as hell and you didn't get to know any of the characters. They just pulled evidence out of their ass all the time.
So if you want to know more about the characters and the process of the investigation itself, then yes the game is worth it still.
Other than that the only thing the anime does is ruin the game.
Hope the new season will be better because it doesn't have to follow any game.

They really messed up the pacing and character development too along with those points this other guy made. The court scenes were a bit of a mess with the evidence being like "Oh hey, I found this thing in the day I forgot to tell you all!" as opposed to it being brought up more naturally in the game like "Oh fuck it's the morning and I just found a bloody knife. Better tell everyone because this is CLEARLY important!"

I was slightly bothered by that.
I wish that at least on mean difficulty they'd let me point out more of the important turning points.
But I guess they can't everyone to be on the same page because there were times when I was oblivious to some of the most simple shit by not paying attention.

I did watch the anime before playing the game, but I don't remember much (mainly the first case and who the mastermind is) and I'm having fun.
You can always pirate it for a few hours to decide.

The anime isn't bad, don't know why people love shitting on it to defend the VN so much.
It was the best adaption it could get with 13 episodes.
Only reason it sucks to people because you are aren't in control and the class trials which is the main good thing about the VN doesn't transition well in the anime since again, you are watching a character do everything.

This. And even if some characters were withholding information was because it was in their character to do so. The evidence gathering takes literally 10 seconds in the anime.
Most of the points they bring up in the anime you learn first time on the trial and as far as you know could've been made up on the spot but you have to take them as fact.
In the game you learn about all those details way before anything happens so when shit hits the fan you can make a logical connection.

It doesn't make any sense to people who haven't played the game because everything moves so fast and it ruins the game for them.
People who did play the game notice all the rushed cases and lack of any character development so the adaptation is bad from that point too.
The adaptation is like some spoiling you the entire game but not actually telling you anything about it.

Not him but I just saw it as a nice quick summary of DR1 for me since i already played it.
DR1 was pretty shit though anyways.
