Somehow devs have this perception that PC can't do co-op because of the keyboard, yet they will happily include full controller support. The few good local co-op games also shoot themselves in the feet by being only local games, no netplay

That sounds like something that would only apply to games which would otherwise have split-screen co-op, and for some reason, split-screen co-op is rare on PC. I have a decent number of games with local co-op, but most of them are games in which all players use the same (non-split) screen.
Actually, as far as I know, the only game in my Steam library with split-screen co-op is Serious Sam 3: BFE.

In some games, you can sort of hack it by running two instances in windowed mode and using a local proxy. Not efficient at all, but if your computer can handle it, then great.

With some config file editing, you can make Rocket League split the screens onto different monitors, but parts of the UI wont like you.
