At what point do I swap to another vocation? I picked Strider and I bough both Assassin and Magick Archer and both of them have ass abilities so I've just kept with Strider. I don't think any of the Strider abilities transfer to Magick Archer so I haven't really bought that many abilities either. Do I wait until I hit the max rank with Strider before changing? So, I'm not even a graphics whore or anything, but this these no-gradient bands of darkness are really distracting. They are most prominent in the night sky and in caves when my lantern goes out.
Is there a fix for this? There aren't many in-game graphics options to speak of, and I don't really know what this effect is called.

On what fight? Magic Archer probably holds top spot as the most OP class. Especially in the Everfall and BBI. Everything dies to Ricochet Hunter and Six/Ninefold Bolt.
Hunter Bolt gets honorable mention for being fucking hilarious against Ur-Dragon. And Explosive Rivet on Wyverns, Wyrms and Cursed Dragon.

Pawn characters that you can teach with extreme depth.
Open world, fun monsterslaying with jumping and grappling onto monsters.
Varied classes, replayability, lots of items and skills and strategies.
Game was awesome and loved by many on console release, but dropped to 12fps when using certain spells and classes when fighting lots of or large enemies. Now that it's on PC it's achieving it's full power/glory

I actually thought the pawn taking your body was a nice payoff to the whole relationship dynamic. The whole idea of pawns is that they're soulless, empty shells of human beings. As your pawn travels with you, they start learning from you. Basic skills and knowledge of wolves being weak to fire, but also behaviors, like playing fountains to find money and breaking every crate they see. They build more and more of these behaviors as the game goes on, and they learn all of them from the Arisen- if your pawn stops to grab a flower before stopping the ogre from eating you, that's your own fault for doing the same thing to them.
Lacking a personality of its own, the pawn assembles one based on traits of the Arisen, becoming more and more like them in the process, and thus more and more like an actual person. The end of the game is the logical conclusion of that dynamic- the pawn, having become the Arisen in mind, thereby becomes them in body. In a way, the Arisen hasn't even left the world, because the pawn has become them in every meaningful sense.
It's not expertly handled, mainly because the game fails at communicating the "pawns are soulless husks" thing well, but I thought the game followed through well on the basic arc.

There's a glitch or something that basically if you walk into water with a lantern it will go out (obviously), but if you unequip and requip the lantern, it will be lit again. Doing this enough times causes your pawn to learn that: if(walk into water with lantern lit){unequip and requip lantern}
this applies to nearly everything in the game from playing in fountains to get money to breaking every crate you see to shooting birds out of the sky with arrows to using an ability that knocks an enemy down followed by a downward masterswordintotheground thrust to finish them off.
Pawns can learn to use offensive spells first, or buff then attack while healing when neccesary. they can learn to tank, DPS, combo of both, protect the arisen, protect themselves, or even just run around collecting items wherever they see

It's one of the greatest action RPGs of all time. AI and attention to detail can be very sophisticated, combat is unlike anything else in vidya, there are lots of different playstyles that you can change between on the fly. It's a (small) open world and there is a story. It's kind of like Monster Hunter meets a character action game meets a traditional JRPG.

Many people switch between classes constantly. It's so easy to do and you get different rewards stat wise from leveling up sorcerer than magic archer.
(Sorcerer grants a lot of magic attack every level, while magic archer grants mostly magic defense and other stats, even though magic attack is crucial for a magic archer. So most magic archers will max out sorcerer first then start MA.)
Also most mages don't need training. Their inclinations (Major/Minor) will dictate how they fight. Give them good skills and good inclination and they will be fine.

For melee (PHYSICAL) oriented Magic Archers, Immolation + Hundred Kisses is the go-to combo and climb on everything.
For ranged (MAGIC) oriented, Ricochet Hunter and Sixfold Bolts combined with the dagger skill Magick Rebalancer.
You can opt for both at the same time if you want but weapons might not agree with you until you get some level 2 or 3 BBI stuff.

Posted this earlier, but maybe someone in this thread can help. I'm having trouble getting this game to run. It worked fine the first time I played, and managed to beat Hydra and get to Gran Soren no issue. No fps drops or issues at all, the game was running perfectly at default settings. Ever since then, I can't go more than a few minutes without the game freezing (most often to a black screen) and I end up having to manually reboot. It know it's not my card or drivers (up to date, even went back a version to test). A clean reinstall did nothing either.
Has anyone else been having issues like this? I'm using a laptop, but I've seen this game run even on intel cards at low settings (tried running it on my intel hd 4000 card and had the same issue as well). My personal specs are:
Intel Core i7-451OU 2.0GHz
Geforce 840M
8 GB DDR3
I have the steam version if that matters.

I actually get triggered when people make a fuss about installing mods like that. Even theinstant castingandincreased jump heightmods simply add to the fun of the game.
