Think about it this way lads. Nintendo never intended to offend or make anyone feel uncomfortable while playing this game. This probably wasn't a big deal in Japan, but apparently not here in the west. By removing it they are using their artistic freedom to fit cultural sensitivities and bring the product they intended to make in the first place. Let's say culture A sees the color red as the color of happiness, but culture B relates it to sadness. You want both cultures to feel happy, so you give color red to culture A and change color for culture B.
