each vocation has augments special to them most of the time. assassin might seem like an upgrade but you lose some of the striders awesome skills like helm breaker.
different vocations earn more stats than others when you level up. each vocation level itself earns more skills/augments, sometimes they are shared between them

Kind of depends. Challenger is solid, but if you pick Mitigator and have AOE spells on your sorc, they will focus on wiping out groups of weak enemies at once, which can be nice. Utilitarian is nice as well.

I guess it's kind of like MonHun with stuff like breaks, and monsters generally dropping 3 parts of their body when killed, and some subspecies-like monsters that show up later on. I guess Grigori can kind of be considered the Elder Dragon of the game. You can craft things like consumables, but not things like weapons and armor, instead you use things you've gathered to upgrade weapons and armor you buy/find.

it was pretty easily playable at launch, and they might have made progress, but capcom went full remove gaijin mode and made it so you needed a vpn to play so I decided to just wait for dark arisen on pc.

I don't remember Pawn names, sorry. I just rent out random Warriors, Rangers, and Sorcerers that I like the look of. I've done 7 Ur-Dragon kills so far so 14 Pawns would've gotten gear from me.
