Yes, recovery mode will put you into 10.4. Make sure you use one of the newest versions of sysUpdater. If you don't care, you can format your sysNand and that's how that error gets fixed. Just make sure it stays on 10.3 until the downgrade.

Download the Homebrew starter kit, initiate browser hax, initiate a downgrade, install emunand.

I always get "zip3dsfx v0.6 error opening internal archive" error while trying to boot in homebrew channel after setting everything up with unlinked emunand and rxtools. Is there a way to fix it

I updated willingly because I already own and have played nearly every 3DS game I'm interested in over these past 5 years. The only thing left for me is Fire Emblem Fates, and I managed to get my hands on a preorder for the special edition, so even then, I have more incentive to buy it than pirate it.
