The first half is pretty good. The second half kinda sucks but still has a few great moments sprinkled throughout and the series ends on a decent note. The 10-chapter epilogue spinoff is also good.
Avoid the anime, the canon parts of the first series are great but they completely fuck it up with constant filler arcs.
The movies are alright but the only ones actually worth watching are (arguably) the first one and definitely the last two.

Well I can get that he's busy, but Kishi REALLY overdid it on that one. It fucking shattered my suspension of disbelief. I simply cannot see that as an error the character makes but the author really just wanting him to fuck up.
If you wanted to wedge some distane between Naruto and Boruto why not use that other scene where he expects his son to observe etiquette and treat him as the Hokage while debriefing for a mission? That's believable, connects into Boruto's difficulties with wanting to be recognised for his own achievements, kind of stems from Naruto having grown up and realised what an ass he was as a kid and wanting his son to do better and be recognised.
But that would be a genuine flaw/error on the character's part, not a shitty retelling of Kishi's own failure as a parent.

The problem is that in Part 1 there was set rules. Chakra, hand signs, the idea of over using your power like Kakashi (who just 10 minutes with the sharingan chrippled him for a week). But Part 2 threw all that out the window. Now they can do everything and there's little impact on them. Sasuke can now have the sharingan on 24/7 without any impact. Well I've only been at it since August, so there's hope for me.
The really annoying part is working out the small details of something I swept over while still in the planning phase and I get a block over something inane and unimportant that my autism won't let me ignore.
I'm also deathly afraid of sounding like a preachy know-it-all asshole or the writer of one of those fics that just uses their stuff to rant about the main manga.Especially because later on I will be killing quite a few of the somewhat over-bloated cast and using the later introduced characters as villains etc. I like some of those characters but with where I'm taking the story, they have to be villains. Except he sucked because he was too powerful. He had so much chakra of his own (not counting the fox) he couldn't control it well enough. Basic cloning didn't work because the amount needed was so low for him. That's why the shadow clone works so well for him. Since it needed a massive amount which he had in spade. Giant spells are his forte while small ones take way more effort for him. Kind of explains why he never got into studying. Since it kept telling him to do the basics when the basics never worked for him.

Also some character tension.Make something of the rift between Ino and Sakura or Sakura's inferiority complex or make Naruto and Hinata actually hit it off and after the initial happy-for-them phase is over she gets jealous due to her having made no progress with Sausage. Naruto has good chemistry with Shikamaru so do something more with that, and likewise have him interact with Shino more as another well-meaning, non-edgy but still cool headed and rational character, who also happens to house some deadly creature(s). Maybe show off Ino as a fickle teenager girl, have her drop Sausage and develop a thing for Kiba, Naruto or whomever and let's have some shenanigans with that.
