First Spin2Win, then every fag used Dark spells, then MonScim, then the meta changes to everyone using a partially faith build no matter what the fuck they use just so they can cast great magic shield or the cancel magic spell, while they cast their babby magic/lightning/dark/fire weapon buff and then it becomes spam R1 to 2 shot anyone: the game.
Lets not even talk about the havelfags when you inevitably get too high of a soul memory.
Admittedly, I was a little sad when they severely nerfed any gear that buffed spell casting speed. I made one of the first Dual Blueflame builds, and had a glass cannon mystic knight I loved PVPing with. Fucking baiting rolls into Crystal soul spear killed so many scrubs.
When all was said and done, nothing was more satisfying than going berzerker and using Drakekeeper's Greataxe + ceastus off-hand. Killed a mountain of weapon buff babbies, and got my second BoB aura. Those were good times. Bridge is my arenafu.

The biggest problem with Bloodborne is that every single normal weapon is fucking shit. All of them are only useful when they are changed, which makes it pointless to have the weapon changeable in the first place.

Explain? Like are you saying for instance the cane the whip is good, but the sword form isnt? Because for most weapons, thats definitely not true. Most definitely benefit from both forms depending on what enemy/boss you're fighting. That's wrong, though. The Saw Spear and Cleaver's normal versions are better than transformed. The silver sword has its uses the greatsword and hammer don't. Moonlight's default is better for normal fighting without the lasers. etc. etc.

That's because the swords physical damage scales off of Strength and the magic damage scales off of Arcane. Meanwhile, the Fire Saw Spear's damage scales entirely off of Arcane, which is the stat with the best scaling.

Other players? Because the stagger damage of the cleaver is pretty low. Unless you mean transforming attack mode (L1 after an R1).
By the way the Axe has the highest poise damage output for stunlocking, and highest regain. One strike can heal 10 to 15 percent of your HP. Its just slower to strike with because its a heavy weapon.

Ludwig's is probably one of the most recommended weapons for beginners. Along with the Saw cleaver and Axe.
It has an excellent moveset, good range, and it can stagger the shit out of some enemies.
I say stick with Ludwig's if it's your first time. You'll get used to the range of the slower two-handed weapons, while not being punished as hard for missing like you would with other slow weapons.

Anyone else notice that ALL the DLC Hunter Nightmare weapons are impossible in the waking world?
The Beasthunter Saif would transform and the blade would be extending in the opposite direction when in folded mode.
Simon's Bowblade would need one of the blades to spin 180 before it can fold and close. And the hunter does this while changing hands from left to right.
The Church Pick extends so for long that its hard to imagine there's anything left inside the pick when extended.
Church cannon would burn your hand/arm.
Whirligig Saw would lose its teeth when spinning. The mace can't fit into the slot and there's no button to activate it.
Point is that compared to the waking world weapons, the DLC weapons are absolutely majestic, as one Mensis scholar says. They're definitely a product of how Kos envisioned the human world. Where for example, Ludwig on a Horse is imagined as a two headed, six limbed single organism, inside the nightmare. In reality he might have just been a dude on a horse.

Went Str/Arc my first play through. Used both Kirkhammer and Moonlight Greatsword and had amazing results. In New Game+ I'm going for Skill build with Church Pick and Saw Spear, and it's going fine so far.Wish I could farm upgrade material better

Cane is pretty much the best skill weapon for the majority of the game because of it's scaling + speed. Reiterpallach is also viable, Church Pick is GOAT if you want to rush the DLC. Also those blades you get from Eileen are good and you can get them immediately if you just kill her in central yarnham

The parry frames are the same as most other weapons, at the beginning of attacks, and you get mad hyperarmor while attacking.
People dont like it because you need to judge distance VERY VERY carefully to be able to use it with efficiency.
Of course less skilled players are gonna bitch about it being "unusable".

If you've never used cane then keep using it. Otherwise, when you start a character on any build definitely grab Saw Spear and use that up to +6 until you reach the weapon you've planned on investing in. Its R1 is so efficient and strong in non-tricked mode, and mats are super fucking easy to get, especially now with DLC. So, getting +6 on the new whatever weapon you switch to should be instant by the time you get it.
For skill build, like I said, keep using cane if youve never used it. All the starters are great, but cane needs a few upgrades and skill to contend on the same level as the others, but its a relatively safe weapon to use with the whip mode.
If you have DLC, absolutely run to Saif after you beat Amelia. I just made a skill character for BoM and Weebkuyo, and I switched to Saif from the usual spear carry, and I can now personally agree with people saying its one of the best weapons in the game. The lunge on the R1 alone is amazing. Just a cool weapon in general, and you wouldnt understand until taking the chance to try it out.

Getting a weapon to +6 is easy, it's using Chunks and especially Rocks that you need to be careful and choose only what you actually want.
