Come hither, jacks.
Let's discuss UnderRail.

What name were you given in the Arena?
>>
I fucking love this game.

By the way, during the Wit Nosek quest, is there another way to repair the television aside from passing the electronics check?
>>
>>324313141
Weatherman
Also, I did the drill mission by working for Eddy, and now I can't start the Black Eel quests, can I not get to Silent Isle anymore? Can I not get bilocation?
>>
>>324313735
Going to Silent Isle isn't exclusively a Black Eel quest. I did it way before doing a single job for them. Just talk to the sailor.

Can you say something about Godmen there? Did Oculus stuff later.
>>
>>324313936
I don't get the option to go to Silent isle
>>
>>324313141
I got Mister Bombastic with my heavy armour/sledgehammer character.
But I literally cannot beat Carnifex.
Haven't played in a few days because of it.
Anyone have any tips?
>>
>>324315048
set him on fire and he runs around like a bitch

only reason I did this is to wait until the effect of the net wore off so I could loot his ass, was disappointing that he gave no armor given how high his resist was
>>
>>324314446
Huh. Well, as far as I know you get a second chance at it, but it's faction locked too. Praetorian, I think.

Fucking piece of shit mentors though, I already found Cryo Orb thrice but I still don't have the fucking shield.
>>
>>324314335
Not during the interview, unless I accidentally missed a dialogue option. I think I went through everything. This was comedy gold.
>>
>>324313141
Lead Storm. I literally only use grenades and psy, but i use guns to finish, so meh.

FUCK!
I was getting to those quest. Does it make it impossible for me to access the stores of the other factions. I hear Coretech has great stuff for psi users. Bilocation just sounds too great.

I was a bit confused why they suddenly attacked me after the mindreading since the dialogue didn't really give any clue and based on my previous actions in the game they should have been neutral to me. I decided to reload my pre-dc save and go straight to them this time and confirmed my suspicions that they attacked because I made contact with the tchortists before them. Can't say I really understand why they cared about that but didn't care about all the work I did for the tchorists before heading to dc.
>>
>>324315492
Cryo orb is bullshit because there's 1 set location for it already, it should be excluded from random lists.
>>
>>324317154
Keep in mind that I might be wrong. I never actually joined Praetorian so I don't know if it's true.

As for vendors, yep. You only get access to one. I'm a psi, but not a crafter, so the only use I found for Coretech's vendor was to unload some loot.
>>
why are the faceless such faggots

they need to drop this on MAC !!!!!!!

Did the mutagen stuff, but I'm still stuck on the final boss.

It's hilarious how good the setting is when you know all about it.
I would say far better than in both Fallout and Metro, especially thanks to Oculus and Godmen stuff.
Holy fuck Tanner.
>>
>>324319017
I tried, but I have 0 stealth. I guess I'll have to load and put together some stealth armor.
>>
>>324319391
The best thing about it is that the game tries so hard to intentionally mislead you into a false sense of security. It WANTS to look like there is hardly any story at all, and no thought put into the setting.

That's not true. That one guy back at SGS is a hardcore fan of you.
And also Twitch watched you championship game. Because Oculus is family.
>>
Has anyone found out where you get the high-tier Thought Control tutors? In particular Neurovisual Disruption looks good.
>>
Has anyone tried giving the caged Faceless a super health hypo? That should probably take care of most of his injuries, so I'm wondering if he is willing to tell you anything then.
>>
>>324325348
I bought Neurovisual Disruption from Ezra. Mentors carried by vendors are never random as far as I'm aware, so you should be able to get it from him.
>>
>>324325363
I gave him one since I have 100's of them

didn't say anything, just scurried off
>>
I'm feeling dumb but I can't find where to plant the explosives in Depot A for the Eels. I used the vents heavily when I first went because I'm a stealth character but I don't remember any of them leading to a cavern. I've just been running around the vents/base for a bit now scratching my head.
>>
>>324326926
Holy fuck, from where? Don't tell me you crafted them.
>>
>>324313141

Whats best a Muzzled 9 shot Hornet or a Compensated marauder?
>>
>>324327473
I never use healing items so they tend to just pile up

so far I've only used 1 healing item in the fight with carnifex since he beat the shit out of me and gave be 2 bleeding stacks in the first round.
>>
>>324327351
Scratch that, I finally found it. There was apparently one section of vents I never used.
>>
>>324328148
what's your build?
>>
>>324328251
I'm a crossbow, stealth, trapper

just fire my 3 shots from range, quick tinker a trap as I duck around a corner
>>
>>324315492
>>324317154
Praetorians don't send you to the silent isle. I think you're confusing Silent Isle with Forsaken Island, the second being part of a quest for the Tchortists.
>>
>>324328847
How do you deal with heavy armor and groups of enemies?
>>
>>324328847
Fellow crossbow/trapper, what crossbow do you use? The super string and anatomically aware scope seem like the best choices but I'm unsure of the best frame. Zephyr and Cyclon seem to be the best, though the Moonsoon seems decent.
>>
Man, playing this game at 2x speed is like an all-around improvement.
>>
>>324329132
poison works wonder on heavy armor, around 150 points of damage from a single burrower trap and I can use electro, acid or poison bolts to finish them off. I usually use the elctro to stun them if I can't kill him outright so that they don't use their healing items.

groups of enemies depends on the situation, if I can make choke points, etc. The warehouse fight I blocked the 3 paths with bear traps and 1 shot them as soon as I heard the clank from the bear trap, nothing resists a volley from me after I trap it. Balor is the only one that I had to use 2 traps on since he could break free from them quickly because of his strength and the fact that I messed up and hit stealth so I lost a turn.

If I can get enemies to cluster in a choke point, I'll usually use an explosive, either a mine after the bear trap followed by another bear trap to hold them and then finish them off with the electro bolts or fire ones since they do damage to lots of opponents
>>
how often do vendors restock
>>
>>324332202
every 90 minutes
>>
>>324330605
I use the string and the anatomically aware scope, zephyr frame for the critical bonus

I could see myself using the one that uses less AP though, it could come in handy if you need the extra movement points
>>
>>324332435

thanks
>>
>>324332786
Thanks man. The crossbow/trapper start is a slow one but once you get the right feats and traps it's great. It's like playing as Batman-- with time to prepare you can fuck up anything.
>>
>>324333257
aye, the worst parts are those missions where you have to fight alongside others or areas where people lose their shit if they see you placing down a trap.
>>
>>324324714
Not necessarily, the combat is the best part and there is always a solution instead of cheese.
>>324319910

Almost every single humanoid enemy after the earlygame carries a pile of consumables. It's easy to get fuckloads of them if you kill them without allowing them to use them.

are shields worth getting?

>>
>>324341869
I wish there was a mod that greatly lowered the amount of healing items you find in the world.

I think the overabundance of hypos actually hurts the game.

Stealth builds are so fucking fun.

>>
>>324342014

>>324342317

Err, anon? Knives and Hammers avoid 80% of your shield by default, and Unarmed attacks aren't stopped at all.
>>
>>324342926

Can't post a screenshot as I'm not on the PC right now, but basically it's a trap/throwing fighter, I put 10 on both dex and agi, 8 intelligence and 3 in everything else. is it even possible to do Gorsky's task if you are not a stealth character?

i got bob's pass and uniform and try to navigate without cover being blown but I cant

and those guards rape my ass in a single turn
>>
>>324345523
It's possible, but you have to be really quick.
Just save and then sit in a corner and watch the patterns.
It helps if you know where the package is first.
>>
>>324345523
it took me a lot of tries but yes, it's possible. You can't get close to anybody (guards/workers) or you're done for
>>
>>324345012
It's viable, but since you basically rely on utilities and you can't carry many of them as they pack quite a weight, you run out of them very fast early on when there aren't many vendors.

Then again, scoring a critical when throwing a molotov at a pack of bandits and blocking the exit with bear traps never gets old.
>>
>>324345523
You can also completely forget about the uniform and just wear the rathound regalia, a balaclava and ninja boots, it should be enough to make you able to sneak around even if you never put points in that skill, like in my case

The reason I asked and was curious was because I have read about who he is, I'm just not sure where this info is obtained in-game, perhaps I missed some dialogue or maybe there is an protectorate quest that reveals this piece of info.

Anyways spoiler alert: Alvin Bate is apparently a Protectorate spy, who seems to undermine the idealism of his fellow leader Trenton by recruiting psychopaths and other lowlives to disrepute the group, and feeding him corrupt ideas
>>
So is there any substantial difference between playing male and female?

If you talk to everyone in the free drones base you learn about a missing person. You can find this missing person at the hanging rat and confront them about who they are. If you do it before advancing too much with the free drones you uncover the spy before he has a chance to mess things up and it makes the later missions easier.

I just arrived at core city and im a bit overwhelmed by the factions. Which faction would suit a metal armor unarmed build the best? Or does it even matter? Should i completely clear out old junkyard and do the last black eal quest before i really start core city quests? I already killed Bob, that black guy because i opened the door on him accidently, had to murded the whole upper level, but it was really fun, and as i know i would have to kill him later anyway.
>>
>>324369552
If you want to use metal armor, Praetors are probably the best.

It goes like this:

Coretech- the hardest questline, very good electronics trader, no unique oddities/locations.

Praetors- middle of the roadd difficulty, metal armors/weapons trader with rare ammo blueprints, one unique oddity and location.

JKK-the easiest but most fun questline imo, shitty trader with sneaky stuff and crossbows, 2 unique oddities and locations

Awesome.

Has anyone actually tried to traveling around as a mutant?

They want you to wipe out the Drones by turning them into immortal acid spitting freakin' mutants? I'm sorry, but are these guys retarded? The Drone base is right under Rail Crossing and like five minutes away from Core City.

Whatever happened to regular poison gas?

>>
>>324376068
I'm pretty sure the sound of your brethren horribly turning into horrible creatures and rendering your headquarters into a permanent shithole has a better ring to it than just gassing everyone to death.

Plus the Protectorate were eager for revenge after the Drones destroyed a really important base.

They sound like total dicks. When the Free Drones took over SRO, you know what they did with the people down in the Embassy? Nothing. They left them alone. No public executions, no hostages, nothing. They were content with taking the opportunity to openly spread their ideology in Junkyard.

>>
>>324379475
Maybe that's an oversight on Styg's part, did they specifically mention the embassy?
>>
>>324379475
They also stole a trainful of supplies heading to a town that was under siege.
>>
>>324379952
And gassed a civilian train.

Neither of them are the good guys, but being a terrorist is fun.
>>
>>324379475
Free Drones have a well-known habit of tying people to rails and spreading their insides from one station to another.
They also attack civilian trains with chemical weapons.
CAU are mad bastards but Drones are far worse.
>>

Yep. It's mentioned that the Embassy is left alone since without reinforcements arriving from above they are no real danger.

>>324379952

>>324380164
>Free Drones have a well-known habit of tying people to rails and spreading their insides from one station to another.

They have no reason to lie to you about this.
It's also said by that girl from his gang, not him.
It's also mentioned by other people as well.
>This, I know nothing about.
There's a doctor at protectorate base who was a victim of chemical attack of drones while traveling on a civilian train.
>>
>>324380371
Except what exactly does the SGS do? They sit around on their asses in their little beacon of civilization, putting plebs through god knows what tests to make sure they can do their bidding, giving no shits about anything or anyone other than what concerns them. Hathor? If they didn't provide the meat, they wouldn't care. Junkyard? Fuck 'em. At least the fascizoid cans appear to give a toss.

Foundry are the ones with the right idea. Too the place is so cancerous.
>>
>>324381229
>Except what exactly does the SGS do?
Survives as it can without trying to push some retarded ideology.
>>
>>324381180
They have no reason to lie about this, but they are not a trustworthy source of information. This shit sounds like urban legend if you ask me. Something Lurkers would do.

And of course there is an undercover Protectorate agent amongst the ranks of the Drones, whose job is exactly to make Drones look as bad to the public as possible.

Do you remember if that attack happened in North or South Underrail? In the South they are doing mostly preventive missions and try to leave civilians out of it, but in the North it's all out guerrilla war, so unfortunately shit happens.
>>
>>324381821
Just go to Fort Apogee and visit the doctor there, reading her story is a pain though because her throat was damaged by the attack.

>mfw he used Paint to draw most of the game
>>
>>324381229
That's because it's run by a council of morons.

Tanner's lying, Gorsky just wants to make a new Core City gang, Vera is slightly brainwashed by her time living in North Underrail.

That leaves Old Jonas and Ezra.
>>
>>324384836
>someone blindly wanders in
But thats impossible. Doors are locked and indestructable.
>>
>>324385281
And Ezra is an old Biocorp zombie who turned an entire district into mutants. So yeah.

SGS is full of wonderful people.
Old Jonas is cool, though.
>>
>>324385413
I mean, that's the in-universe reason. We have to assume locks can be picked and doors destroyed outside gameplay restrictions.
>>
I was hoping that this game would move away from the same old quest-central bullshit like every other game, I just want to go out and find a dude fishing in the middle of dangerous a cavesystem or at least get quests like that instead of sticking all of the quests into towns.
>>
>>324386085
Instead when I find an interesting building I have to leave it instead of exploring it for fear of spoiling a quest.
>>
>>324386085
There are quests like that but chiefly speaking, yeah it's mostly centered on the stations, where the most people are. Unless you were expecting getting a quest from a siphoner or something.

SIPHONER MAN
>>
>>324386218
YMMV but with around 100 hours of this, I'm yet to ruin a quest by going somewhere I'm not supposed to. Areas that could effective be ruined are usually behind an unbreakable barrier of some sort.
>>
>>324386242
>Unless you were expecting getting a quest from a siphoner or something.

No but in my opinion you should be able to start quests not just by being told to, like if you stumble upon an interesting building there's a quest note saying "you found an interesting building" or something like that

Should I get this game?
Is it like the original fallout and wasteland?
Is it unforgiving?

Definitely.

There are times when the game slap you in the face just when you start thinking you're the hottest shit.
>>
>>324388797
>Is it unforgiving?
There's a level that serves as a casual filter which will rape you in the ass if you're not careful and generally you can die easily, especially if your build is not that good.

It's like Fallout 1\2 with better combat, and an added bonus of some really sweet exploration.

You can enter a "dungeon" near one city, explore for 2 hours, and end up in the other side of the map, near another city. Ever play MML?
>>

>Is it unforgiving?
A few hours in on your first playthrough you'll reach a place called depot a that will test whether the build you put together is good enough for the rest of the game. A lot of people have hit a brick wall there and had to start over, the less patient ones drop the game altogether because of it.
>>
>>324390056
I never really understood how anybody can "fuck up" their build. You get a shitload of skill points each level up, you have loads of tools that can cover up for lack of damage (hello grenades)

I mean... fuck! What are people doing? Making 10 INT, 10 WIL, 1 CON , 1 PER guys and then having them run around with rifles?
How can you even fuck up your build?

Some people are just retarded
>>
>>324385519
Technically he was with New Biocorp, since they collapsed close to 100 years ago. Old Biocorp collapsed way before.

It also has a more interesting storyline than Fallout, but you gotta stick with it to see.

Anyway, I already got 70+ hours outta the game, and I haven't even restarted the game a single time.
If exploring a mysterious world that's a combination of modern technology and something stanger, or engaging in enjoyable turn-based combat, or crafting some really cool items, or sneaking around and burning enemies to a crisp sound appealing to you, get the game.

It's 15 clams at the end of the day, and is fucking worth it
>>
>>324349378
Not rushed, dev literally ran out of ideas and couldn't implement a lot of fan feedback because he ran out of money for the people he hired.
>>
>>324386085
>>324386218
I never had that problem

I walked into the mutagen with the frozen mutants and got it before I ever got the quest

if you're going to break something, you're usually locked out of the area or there are semi aggressive NPC's there
>>
>>324390943
Or better yet, you grab the thingamabob, and when the NPCs give you the actual quest they have an actual "Wait what, you already went there and grabbed the thing?!" line.
>>
>>324390385
>>324390056
You are aware devs nerfed that place? No amount of grenades or traps would cover up for you when you get rushed by dozen of acid spitting sponges and dogs that glue you and whole area is covered with green shit.
