Does anyone dislike the leveling system in Wticher 3? I'm not saying it's terrible but it feels pretty frustrating that I invest points into a skill that I can't use because I'm out of slots/can't unlock the next one yet. Or I have to give up a old skill that I like for it.

You usually stick to one based on your stat investment. The game features evolving armor sets.
Basically you get some witcher style armor through treasure hunting and you later find Upgraded versions of the gear later. It requires lots of exploration but is pretty fun.
The armor sets also don't go 'WoW' on you. Even the most ornate isn't anymore ceremonial in appearance than Maximillian Plate.

Medieval armors were designed to not hinder running and sword technique, not jumprolls (probably because the concept of rolling in a fight is kind of retarded). Rolling requires you to redistribute your weight and articulate your back in relation to your buttocks to facilitate the movement and continue momentum, which armor makes difficult due to both the weight and the fact that making armor that articulates with your torso effectively is overly complicated and would do more to compromise the protection it provides in the first place.
It doesn't matter if your a knight or fucking Guts, if your armor isn't specifically designed to facilitate that impractical level of movement, you're not going to be rolling anytime soon.

His speech about kings being on a whole other level than the rest and Roche's insight about how Radovid isn't all that loyal an ally, showed to me that he considers Geralt a mere tool, who'll be discarded once his usefulness to Radovid The Paranoid has run out. Not to forget how he fucked over Kaedvin, which also strengthens Roche's reasoning.

The armour is layered and isn't just a single mesh with textures to give the illusion of being layered. It's why Dark Souls and Witcher have good looking armour whilst Skyrim has ugly looking armour (e.g. the fur and steel plates in the steel plate set are part of the same mesh whilst the fur should be above the plates).
