Rejoice friends. KOTOR may still be confirmed for canon

This season looks awful and why are they using 4000 year old ships?
>>
>>324148362
That's not really a good thing. The further it stays away from the Disney canon, the better.
>>
>>324148715
Why?

Of any of the EU I actually cared about, I wanted KOTOR to stay
>>
>>324148513
Its a rebellion. Why is Isis using outdated technology/guns and drive pickup trucks?
>>
>>324149141
Do you know the difference between decades and thousands
>>
>>324149609
Might as well be decades given that all that changed in Star Wars across time was the names.

Looks like the same shit they're using today if you ask me
>>
>>324148362

>KOTOR may still be confirmed for canon

Why, because they recycled a part of a ship's design for the cartoon?

Disney has outright stated that they will reach into the EU for names, places, and stuff, but that doesn't mean whatever story something gets pulled from gets dragged along with it.

>>324148972

>I wanted KOTOR to stay

If anything, the more they cannibalize EU stuff, the more likely the actual original piece will not be made canon.
>>
>>324148513
Maybe they just happen to look like the 4000 years old ships but have new materials weapons and engines?
Not like Starwars tech advances much

>>324148362
Wake me up when only kotor is canon.
>>
Did that lightsaber looked like Ren's?
>>
>>324148362
Rebels has been a mixed bag so far. The first season was middling with some high points, but I was willing to forgive it on the basis of finding its feet with a rushed production cycle. The second season has been stagnant so far though - this trailer looks nice, but how much of that is going to translate into real story-telling chops?

They can keep lore-dumping old EU stuff into the new canon (along with adding interesting-looking new stuff too, like that order of yellow lightsaber people and Maul being a wizened Sith mage), but all that means shit when the core character stuff is lacking. The central crew of Rebels should get heavy character episodes before they go off on wild tangents like this, otherwise why should I care?

>inb4 baby show for babies

Being for kids is no excuse for crappy storytelling. If it was, we'd consider stuff like Food Fight to be on par with Toy Story.
>>

According to nucanon, "there's a bit of truth to legends". This means they're going to slowly re-incorporate old EU concepts with a twist, or simply re-incorporate them in more logical ways.

The Scourge of Malachor is a thing that happened in nucanon, and during that time period a lot of Jedi used crossguard lightsabers, along with other types of weapons like curved darksaber katanas and light-staffs.

Basically Disney is going to re-canonize Old Republic stuff at a moderate pace, while simultaneously giving it an aesthetic overhaul to make it look more ancient and different than the contemporary Star Wars era (unlike old KotOR/TOR stuff which inexplicably looked exactly like the prequels and OT).

See pic related for old EU Darth Bane versus nucanon Samurai Bane who wields an orange curved light-pike as his weapon.
>>
>>324148513
Star Wars tech is stagnant as fuck. Shit in KOTOR might as well be the same as the movies.
>>
>>324154016
that looks more chinese than samurai to me
>>
I just want disney to recanonize kyle katarn and KOTOR 1+2
>>
>>324148362
>People still not getting how the nucanon works
If they showed Darth Revan in this show, that doesn't KOTOR canon. All it makes canon is that there was a guy named Darth Revan and he existed. Malachor being around doesn't make the Exile canon. It just means that a planet named Malachor exists.

In the old EU the actual KOTOR timeline looked ancient as fuck and completely unrecognizable to the OT, it was the video games that fucked it all up and just copied the movies out of convenience.

You know what needs to go? The widespread idea that brown and tans robes with hoods are a Jedi outfit. So fucking retarded. I know it leaked into the PT a little bit, but the nuEU should come up with a better template for a Jedi outfit.

All Jedi wear brown robes (or worse a light colored karate looking outfit) because Obi-Wan and Luke wore that stuff in ANH. Somehow EU writers ran with the idea (or were just lazy) and made that the "Jedi outift" despite Obi-Wan wearing robes because he was in hiding on a desert planet, where his clothes make sense. Even fucking dumber are the clothes that copy Luke's original outfit from before he even had any Jedi training.
>>
>>324154879
Yeah I'm not going to pretend it makes for good stories but clearly playing it safe works in terms of making a profit, which is all they're out to do.

That's not how this works
>>
>>324155534
Yes. In ROTJ which was written years later than ANH and had a strong influence from Ol' George who doesn't give much of a shit about in-universe logic. By the time of ROTJ, there had already been a lot of Legends-EU that had established the dumb idea of Jedi always wearing brown robes or Luke in ANH robes, and that leaked into ROTJ.

NuEU has the unique opportunity to do something new and re-establish the look and feel of the Jedi order. Course they're just going to make them identical to Legends-EU, but I can dream.
>>
>>324155903
True that, but to be fair, the gimmick was proven to be stupid when obi wan easily cut off his hands
>>
>>324155680
Dooku's main distinction is that the handle is not straight, which doesn't make it as "gimmicksaber" as Maul's or Kylo REEEEEEEn's

W-w-wut? Disney said the opposite of that.

That doesn't make sense for them to all be in the same tier of canon. The new movies and the Thrawn trilogy can't co-exist, for example.

All the old EU is in a separate "Legends" canon. It is it's own sort of alternate universe canon. It is now, basically officially reprinted fan fiction.

NuEU is supposed to be a much tighter reboot of the universe. All the NuEU stuff is supposed to be more centrally approved to make it more overall coherent.
>>

The outer Rim is where the "real" Sith Empire Revan found was hidding. It is where Korriban and Dromund Kaas are.

>>
>>324158646
Again, I acknowledged it leaked into the PT (because again, George ain't so good at in-universe logic. He's an idea guy who needs somebody to filter him.), but at least for things set in older eras or different parts of NuEU there can definitely be a chance for some design genius to come up with a newer Jedi outfit template.

I know it won't happen, because people don't want to stray too far from what's come before, but it really ought to happen.

During the original trilogy George must have had some different ideas as to what a Sith really was. Ability wise, Sheev and Vader had nothing in common. Sheev disliked lightsabers and had his trademark electrocution ability. Vader had nothing like that, he was basically just an "evil jedi" that had a red saber and used the force to squish throats instead of to push things. It's confusing.

Nope. There's a guide out there that tells you the "must watch" chapters in order.

I mean, the series have very good episodes but others that can be meh. For example they made a "saga" of 3-4 episodes about a specific clone commando (10/10 episodes) and the nex were 2 episodes of Jar Jar + C3PO + Padme (totally 2/10).

The series can ve divided by:
>Ashoka episodes (good)

>Clone episodes (very good)
>Jar Jar episodes (fuck them)
>Padme episodes (fuck them also)
>Other jedis episodes (some are good, some are meh)

I think and hold that Sith and Jedi were never supposed to be so similar as the ended up becoming.

Going only by the films and by fantasy archetypes, Palpatine was the only Sith we saw in the OT. He was basically a powerful evil wizard. Darth Vader had the "Darth" title (though remember unelaborated on within the films, so it holds no lore baggage) and he played the part of a Good Knight who turned evil.

I don't think Sith and Jedi were ever supposed to by symmetrical as they ended up being in the wider Star Wars universe.

Imagine if you will that Sith are incredibly powerful dark side wizards. Sith lords are never straight up fighters, but conspirators and those who use tremendous ethereal power - at the cost of their morality and appearance. They scheme and always work in the figurative shadows.

Lightsabres are a Jedi only weapon. All lightsabre welders start off as light side Jedi trained in the ways of the force. Anybody evil with a lightsabre is a fallen Jedi working for a Sith and never the head-Sith-in-charge.

That Maldis wizard in Farscape is how I imagine a Sith would "fight" people and fuck with them. Drain a Sith of ability to use abstract force powers and they are combat wussies.

At least those are my thoughts on how it *should* have been...

I too thought this, even when it was explained that Kylo's lightsaber was an "ancient design", because I figured that the very early lightsabers would also be unstable, because they hadn't figured that shit out yet.

I agree any lightsaber with a crossguard should be unstable, because otherwise, what's the point?

>>
>>324162573
It kind of is. Any "deconstruction" of Star Wars that wasn't Kotor2 was either coincidental or borne from outside criticism.

That isn't why Kreia was an interesting character though. Unraveling her backstory and learning why she said these things was the real mystery. She had a background that was completely fleshed out but almost never touched on directly.

But the reason the older models had the crossguards is because they are unstable as well right? Because the older models were like, not as refined yet? Otherwise why just have the crossguard for shits and giggles?

I figured Kylo made his lightsaber in the older, less refined design because he was a faggot who couldn't into fine tuning of "modern" lightsabers, so he just went back to the oldest and easiest to make design.

>>
>>324163749
With the lightsaber design, the metal part makes up most of the "crossguard" meaning if a opposing lightsaber slides down, it will just cut the metal. Also the crossguard saber parts are just venting, not real "blades". It's a crossguard which doesn't serve the same purpose as real crossguards and only exists to vent out energy. Thus any lightsaber which has it should be expected to be unstable and in need of vents.

What was bombed was the city of Taris. In star wars most of the planets only have 1 big city unless it's a "homeworld" for some species. The Ship didn't have to land just where the city was.

>(By the way, the book also has an older woman, a mother, rescuing a man. So if that bothers you, you might wanna find a bunker for hunkering down. It's from his blog. The guy is cuck supreme. You can't criticize his shitty book or else you're sexist racist homophobe.

>Okay, a couple things, Timothy.
First up: the book is literally not unreadable. It is readable. People have read it. That’s just sort of a factual thing. As for it being terrible — well, if you think that’s the case, I can’t change your mind on that, and I’m sorry you had that experience.
Second, though, I’d like to ask: so, is it really not the gay thing?
Like, you didn’t mention it as a problem, and what you mention as a problem is the writing.
But here’s something I notice with some of the people who claim it’s the writing:
People are, by and large, pretty available on social media.
Like, for instance, it doesn’t take much to go to your public Facebook page and see article after article after article about your vigorous and religious opposition to homosexuality and gay marriage in particular. (Not to mention support of the Confederate flag and Planned Parenthood and all the standard checkboxes that might suggest you and I are not really in political alignment.)
And so, it just seems sort of convenient that THIS book is a book you don’t like and it surely has nothing to do with the fact that the book has what some feel is a “progressive SJW agenda.”
>>

His gimmick in his first few appearances was justhigh speed movements, hit and run tactics, brutal attacks, being able to use his cyborg body in interesting ways (like the spinning really fast to scare opponents, and wielding a lightsaber with his foot), and putting the Jedi off balance.

Hell, the extra arms felt more like a last resort, yet most fights in all other media have him using them almost immediately.

Oh boy, where is that copypasta when I need it?

Here we go:

>The TIE wibbles and wobbles through the air, careening drunkenly across the Myrrann rooftops - it zigzags herkily-jerkily out of sight
>Time to buy more space diapers

>I've been following the reviews on Amazon, and to say the least Wendig and his fans are spinning like crazy. There's very little "rage" (as the headline says), just lots of disappointed readers who've never been exposed to his eccentric and off-putting style until now. The rage is supplied by author and fans: they have come up with new excuse after new excuse for why Star Wars fans are awful people, starting with the tin-foil hat conspiracy about an "Alliance" of EU diehards who refuse to accept a different version. Read through the negative reviews, and you'll find instead readers who say that they have no problem letting go of the old EU, but that Wendig's is the worst SW book they've read. EVER. Second dodge, all SW fans who don't like his book are homophobes now. Once Wendig's fans were primed, though, EVERYBODY'S a homophobe. One reviewer on Amazon who identified himself as bi said he was surprised to find that he was supposedly an enemy of gays just because he panned the book.

>Then there's the suggestion by Wendig that the one-star reviews aren't legitimate, because they probably didn't really buy the book. That's simple to rebut: use Amazon's search filter to isolate "verified purchase" reviews only, and guess what? One-star reviews *still* run two-to-one against five-star reviews. When the "verified purchase" dodge didn't work, they tried making an issue of whether the reviewers had ever reviewed anything else (but it was found that a lot of the five-star reviews were first-time reviews).

>When these attacks failed to achieve the goal of making disappointed Star Wars fans shut up, Wendig and company started getting even more creative. More than one reader noted that Wendig's choppy style is so badly written that reading it makes you feel like you're having a seizure, Wendig's supporters tried to claim that the reviewer was making a joke about *epileptics*. However, it doesn't take much searching to find Wendig himself talking about bad writing causing *him* a "seizure" on his own blog, just a few months ago. Just the same, they are striving to find any word or nuance that can be twisted into an attack. And yet it's the Star Wars readers who are supposedly in a "rage".

>Wendig doesn't come off nearly so civil and gentlemanly on Twitter and his blog as he does in a friendly interview like this. He has been inciting hatred among his fans, and mocking Star Wars readers with something akin to the classic "ha ha got your money sucks to be you" attitude.

>It's not hard to see why Star Wars fans don't like Wendig's take. It's clear that he doesn't have as much respect for the source as he pretends. Even beyond his awful writing style, he comes up with stuff that would sound more at home in The Jetsons, like "space diapers". Instead of escapist adventure, he wants to make SW a mirror of the real world, so much so that when the imperial "cops" arrive in the first scene to take on a crowd pulling down a statue, his description of them sounds exactly like the LAPD, complete with red strobe lights. He retreads gags from the movie that were great – in the movies – but reuses them in disconcerting ways, suggesting that Han Solo "always says" fly casual, as if it's just some dumb catch phrase he repeats all the time (he's not Han Solo, he's Ace Rimmer), while Admiral Ackbar is going around worrying about traps.

Is that why I like delicious brown/green/blue/red girls? Am I getting off to colour contrast?

She's written to sound deep, and written good, but she's not really that deep or unique. She criticized you for being a good guy, she criticized you for being a bad guy, you decide to stay neutral and not be involved in others business, since, apparently, that's her whole philosophy, but she smacks you with "Apathy is death!" Thanks, grandma, that was a valuable lesson.

And it looks like shit that and the budget is pretty small compared to clone wars. I don't think people will realize how much money Lucas was dumping into that show, some episodes cost millions.
