Yes and no, there are some variety in later areas and BBI has it's own unique locale. After a major game event there will also be a dramatic shift in landscape.

Confirmed playing on easy or at least not discovering the easy ways to kill things.
Half the fun of the game is that it literally lets you DISCOVER shit. Saurians in the well are really hard after the encampment EXCEPT if you stay calm and go for their tails when there's an opening. There's a smart way to play through every encounter in the game, you just have to learn them. It also lets you brute-force your way through every encounter, and i assume anyone saying the combat is repetitive is doing just that.
Just remember, this game uses ALL of it's dumb mechanics at some point

You can also find smaller portcrystals that you can set up on the map and warp to whenever.
I recommend doing an expedition for a healing spring so you can set up a portcrystal as soon as you get it.

Going to need a few augments from Warrior, at least 1 if I remember, you'll need to switch vocation to Warrior after level 10 at some point, kill shit until you're ALMOST the next level, then switch back to assassin before you ding and make sure you level ONLY while you're an assassin. (Stats vary when you level based on your vocation, only right when you level up.)
You'll wind up as a glass-cannon who can solo down the Ur-Dragon if you want at level 140+. Even if you don't decide to go completely no-pawns night-only, you'll still tear fucking everything apart in almost no time at all.
Either that, or go Magick Archer, another face-rapey build.

You take a quest to kill 10 harpies in X but you travel to Y instead to do a main/more interesting quest, and you just happen to kill 10 harpies along the way. I want to play as a sorcerer/magick archer, but I don't want to be running out of stamina all the time.
Should I be leveling as a ranger/warrior/strider for the first 30 levels or so before switching to sorcerer for stamina gain? I don't want to rely on consumables too much.

I think they're talking about combat as a whole. There's only a few abilities, but the combat feels very fluid. The controls are responsive, and overall it's just fun. In Dragon Age, especially Origins, the combat is slow and isn't engaging at all. It's mostly auto attack while you wait for the cool down timers on the few useful abilities you do have. You've got a bunch of abilities, but most of which are pretty useless.

Enemies DO have levels, but their levels are hidden. So you CAN stumble into way-too-high areas if you're exploring too much, or accidentally rushing.
The shit under Pawn's Guild is one of the worse examples because of how crazy-varied people are at that point. If you were just doing the main-quest and don't realize sidequests are locked after specific points, or if you're not exploring/sidequesting in general, you can hit that bullshit at level 14. I didn't get there till 23, and that Ogre is still bullshit.
Another good example is on the way to Witchwood. Right before you enter the area, there'll be a bandit-castle in the general area to your right. If you take TWENTY STEPS off the path leading you to Witchwood and towards the castle, you'll find bandits who look the EXACT SAME as the bandits you just murdered on the road, but are 15-20+ levels higher and can kill you in 1-2 hits on Hardmode.

For Magick Archer, drop 45 levels into Fighter or Strider, honestly. Both will give you better stamina and more defense to boot, rounded your character out. You won`t be as face-melty as some other Magick Archers, but you`ll be more durable and have better stamina.

They really set it up nicely. The opening scene after you create your character is really gripping and really leaves the expectation that this is a huge epic adventure. I've not gotten very far in this game so I can't personally comment on the story myself beyond the tutorial.
Although I'm really enjoying KoAR again. I played it when it first came out and never really got that far. Did the tutorial last night and started playing again. Made it through that and talked to a few characters once I got out of the tutorial cave. Gotta say it's really got me interested. Can't wait to get off work so I can go home and play it some more. Hopefully this time I take it all the way through.

As a low level strider I could get 3-shot by the stronger ones (the fighter/warrior variant of bandits).

Males have to dress in drag to get past/do that quest. Otherwise, gender really doesn't have much impact other than some enemies like Ogres prioritizing a specific gender first.
Hell some sidequest cutscenes show you getting a bit romantic with a woman regardless of your gender and the romances are meaningless, game don't give a fuck.

At inns and camps there's a thing called a knowledge chair. Have your pawn sit in it and it will ask you how you would like it to behave using your three inclinations as your choices. They'll give you a general description of what they do.

Anon, if you don't want to min-max, then don't even switch to another vocation for stat purposes.
You could play 10-200 MA and be completely fine. Having more magic stat doesn't hurt, but if you're not enjoying playing as a Sorcerer, then just don't do it.
That said, MA's strength comes from magic stat. You don't need physical stat (but your regular attacks will suck ass, but that's fine). If you think you need more stamina, Ranger has the best Stamina gains in the game, otherwise try Strider for more all-round stats.

Do whatever you want, fighter is one of the most fun vocations if you like beeing in the heat of the battle instead of manuevring outside of it. But, its always good the take the most farm quests (except ghosts and undead ones (kill x undead etc)) Be just carefull to not override olde rin the process oh and (take char x to place y is only good at lvl 25 and up so dont even bother in the beginning) main quests are key
