You get skill points for levelups on each monster and can select what skills/bonus to spend the points into
You can issue tactics for each monster, starts with vague basic ones like "do what you want, offensive, defensive" later youll probably be able to tell them to say use skill or hit enemy back column.
Melees can attack back rows but will get some damage penalty for doing so.
Generic fight encounters replaced from red dots on map to random encounters that can happen when walking. Special/event/miniboss encounters are still visible ones on map.

I haven't gone very far into the game so I don't know if that gets expanded or not. A lot of time has been saved from grinding compared to BB1 as the notice board with the quests have been removed and you no longer have to waste time doing those to gain rank and shit before progressing. Dirks is overlord from the get go and you progress in the game by just going down to the dungeon and doing certain objectives.

As I remembered, 天界兵 aka angle soldiers are the most imba thing in BB2, and you can hire them in early game after the two angel captain join you. You don't really need anything other than these.
And Bow/ Bow weapon skill are the most balance broken thing in BB2, angle soldiers can have them too.

Someone should start a site dedicated to fast, barely corrected machine translations that actually got translations, you know, done ever.
