No but apparently the collective military might of the Horde and Alliance loses at the Broken Shore so it's up the various "class" organizations to band together to stop the Legion. You have some instances with the Earthen Ring and Warlock one where the organization gets fucked beyond belief and you're left in charge but then some of them like the DK one or the Rogue one are doing pretty fine and you're just made like "arch rogue" or "high paladin" or "the best priest".
I personally think it's stupid. You have some organizations where it makes for all those people who belong to that "class" to come together since mostly all Druids are buddies with each other and I'd agree with the idea that most shaman are willing to be friends in the little shaman class hall.
But then you have shit like rogues or warriors where literally every single warrior of renown or every rogue that has ever existed all decide to team up since the world is ending and all be in the "rogue" gang or the "warrior alliance" or the "hunter powwow". Like wow Garrona and Noggenfogger are sort of rogues that means they have to team up. Certain classes are too broad of a spectrum for me to believe that literally every warrior on Azeroth all end up in the same sky city and work with each other in a club house that says "WARRIORS ONLY".
You had the actual fucking end of the world with cataclysm. Like Deathwing was three minutes from casting "blow up the world" but you didn't see every member of X class get together. WoW the Horde/Alliance got fucked up better step in now though.

It's nothing but bullshit contrivances so they can justify whatever they feel like doing at that exact moment. Even if you came up with explanations for this shit, it couldn't be anything but half-baked crap. It's crappy writing, plain and simple. I mean, Doomhammer was never even a shaman weapon. That was shit they retconned onto it later after it became "Thrall's weapon".
All this shit with making the player the main character of the story is awful too. It's been going on since at least Cataclysm and probably earlier. Do they not realize how boring and dead this makes the game? The whole point of an MMO is that it's meant to be a persistent, living world that exists and changes regardless of your individual input. Conflicts are happening without your intervention, and if something changes or is resolved, it changes for everyone, not just you. But they are so desperate to fellate the players that instead the world will literally phase and morph to suit each individual's view of it. Each person's world is different, it's like a single-player game. And with the dungeon finder and removal of group quests, there's literally no reason to even interact with the other people you meet. Blizzard fully expects you to pretend that other players DON'T EXIST.
