DUDE JUST ADD STEALTH LMAO

How the FUCK did they think this was a good idea? I wanted a nice remake of the original Metroid, not a fucked stealth sequence
>>
>>324103590
That all happens after you finish what the original covered though

Apparently, it's almost finished, but it can be completed right now. I think. The creator changed a bit of it just to make it work, but it does seem pretty cool, especially for such a silly idea.

Long as you're pro at walljumps and infinite bomb boosting.

It's more of a hassle to play than anything.
>>
>>324103590

The stealth segment happens after you play all the original's content. And many people liked the stealth segment.

Complaining about the added stealth segment in Zero Mission is like complaining you have to backtrack in Metroid Prime to find the artifacts.

Then play the part that's a nice remake of the original Metroid, and stop playing when it starts the stealth sequence. I don't see what the problem is. They're two entirely independent segments of the game.

Something about the movement bugged me. Felt like Samus was heavier and stuck to the ground.

Otherwise, its a really solid game. And the use of dialogue and cutscenes was actually good, unlike Other M.

Still would rather Metroid returned to its roots and made a new game more like Metroid II.

I personally love Fusion for what it is, but the common complaints are:

> minimal sequence breaking: broken wall jump, computer locked doors
> final SA-X and omega metroid bosses underwhelming
> too much chatty terminal shit, not enough solitude ambiance
> weapons upgrades couldn't be toggled independently, no run button, etc.
> wasn't Super Metroid

Overall the best bosses in the series though, and the lingering dread of the SA-X made this great for me.
>>
>>324109612
All the game really needed for me was a NG+ mode which basically killed all the console chatter and that's it.

Subsequent runs became tedious due to mashing A on dialog.
>>
>>324109612

is there any explanation for that thing in the metroid lore?

Fusion is a blur to me by this point

miscellaneous things the federation tried to make weapons out of on their research station:

> spore-flinging amazonian jungle
> jelly monster (pretty useless, needed lasers and gravity generator added)

pretty much the flinging shit against the wall and seeing what sticks method of weapon development.

Everything I've done prior to Crocomire is just a sideways arena (Kraid's in a webm up above). I presume the same for the rest.

Several reasons:
>1. The SA-X was a success in Fusion b/c of the fear & dread it gave players. Nintendo wanted to recreate this in Zero Mission.

>2. They made Zero Mission too piss poor easy that it shorten the time to actually complete the game. Since Nintendo didn't want to break the canon adding unnecessary shit like Crocomire like they originally planned to, they decided to extend the game with this shit.

>>

Yes, yes it was. Was the stealth section even needed it just felt so tacked on. Also Samus is a superhuman, why the hell would she bring a damn paralyzer with her instead getting a Federation issue pistol?
>>
>>324120207

I don't know, it's just most shit in the metroid universe is already physically superior to humans.

Your average pirate can take quite amount of damage soak and they don't even wear that much armor.

Living things from Talon to Aether are all extremophiles with plasma resistant shells and other incredibly hardy adaptations that make earth life seem pathetic.

Remember Shegoths? Remember when their skin can reflect the tiny suns that make up the power beam? Remember when their fucking adults can absorb cast amounts of energy as if they would even need that to survive? That's the metroid universe.
>>
>>324119808
The funny part about Fusion is how you keep acquiring more health and better weapons, but the enemies scale accordingly so you don't feel that much stronger until the very last part of the game. I get that it was supposed to reflect the X parasites getting progressively stronger and more dangerous as the game goes on, but still felt stupid. Also I suppose it sort of makes sense since the game kinda hands you upgrades and you never find new weapons/abilities by exploring on your own except at the very end.
>>
>>324120421
Samus may be much stronger than an average human thanks to chozo DNA and being raised on zebes but why can't the pirates be even stronger? Metroid games, especially prime, have some pretty powerful beings in them. An unarmed human with a taser wouldn't last long on these planets full of crazy energy parasites and hostile wildlife and eldritch abomination bosses
>>
>>324120631
Is "Samus is MUCH STRONGER than a regular person" a purely western invention? It never comes up in Japanese media or materials about her.
>>
>>324120698
I don't know man that just seems to be the general consensus

Also something to do with how high she can jump compared to zebes's gravity and math and shit
>>
>>324120698
Japan's scared of strong women so no surprise there. If a woman is strong it better be because of magic bullshit like Sailor Moon and not because of literal physical strength and training.
>>
>>324120275
While Super was easier than its predecessors it did keep the non-linear exploration that both of those games established. Zero Mission dumbs all of that down blocking off areas until you either killed all the enemies in the area or get the item the game wants you to find. All the sequence breaks in Zero Mission didn't thought out & were too easy to find compared to the first three games. It also didn't help that the game pulled a Fusion in the end by finally fully opening up Zebes, what should have been down earlier. The only items you were finding in Zero Mission in the end were Energy Tanks, Missiles, & Power Bomb expansions.

Samus is a super athlete, able to perform acts of gymnastics and acrobatics no normal human could ever hope to do even at an Olympic level. By that measure she is a super human. Can she, without the Varia, pick up a car and throw it at somebody like Spider-man? No, probably not, although I suppose we've never seen her try.
>>
>>324120421
Because Samus beating pirates and getting her suit back even while being outgunned is an interesting subversion of the usual game progression. The character is stronger because they succeed with a more limited power.
>>
>>324120698

Originally it was nothing more than modifications so she could live on zebes. People inflated how much of a power boost it gave her.

Then Sakamoto and the manga guy decided that in reality she was made a super weapon by mother brain during her infusion.
>>
>>324120817
>sequence breaks are part of intended gameplay

Well ok I guess
>>
>>324120854
Too bad it's designed and plays like shit, totally rendering any message about her strength moot on principle.
>>
>>324120854
This.

Yeah ok
>>
>>324120793
Her being superhuman has nothing to do with that fake ass gravity some Metroid fans like to pull out their calculated fanfiction. When she was infused with Chozo DNA & was trained by the Chozo all of physical traits were brought up to superhuman levels. The manga & metroid wiki "wikitroid" goes more in to it. On wikitroid just ignore the shit about Metroid DNA though, Sakamoto said she lost that when she restored her DNA back to its Human/Chozo self.
>>
>>324121000
>it's designed and plays like shit,
All you have to do is stay in the shadow.
It's the easiest shit in the fucking game.
>>
>>324103590
Im ok with the stealth part but only if I pretend like one hit kills Samus without her suit (it's still really easy even then)

Why does she keep all her energy tanks while in Zero suit? The autistic side of me can't hamdle that.
>>
>>324120854
Still doesn't answer the question of why she couldn't just have a Federation issued pistol on her to blow some Zebesian brains out over a stun gun.
>>
>>324121286
Maybe the zero suit is the part that stores the energy to power the power suit

That's not what I'm talking about you fucking idiot, although one of the problems is that it's piss easy. The other's being a lazy, simple corridor design that is both boring to go though and frustrating to backtrack, idiotic AI, and two (2) of the shittiest bosses in the entire series. In fact, I nominate Mecha Ridley as the worst Metroid boss ever.

>>
>>324121469
Dude it's a military, they have pistols. Also it just proves my point that the stealth section wasn't really necessary & was just tagged on b/c they ran out of ideas when Mother Brain was killed.
>>
>>324121585
What if the zero suit starts to shrink as the power drains
>>
>>324121342
Because if you're blowing space pirate brains out you're not outgunned. You're just less-gunned. The whole point is that the space pirates, the goons you're used to blowing away with no problem, are suddenly a real threat.
>>
>>324121650
I still don't know why they didn't just end it there. It was a pretty damn good game until the stealth section. I mean that WAS the end of the game before.
>>
>>324121650
Dude its the future

They have laser rifles and blasters and shit that their armored Troopers use

Samus didn't have a pistol because she either didn't think she would need one or knew she wouldn't even if things went wrong

It provided interesting and fun gameplay
>>
>>324121574
What does that have to do with anything? Also Zero Mission was the one that introduced the "her suit dematerializes when she doesn't need it" concept
>>
>>324121692
>suddenly a real threat.

No they aren't, they just pace back and forth in the same pattern forever. They're no more threatening then than they were before.
>>
>>324121750
Actual that happened in Super, when it just fades away if you beat it fast enough.
>>
>>324121650
Because it is more interesting to take these enemies that have been easy to fight before and suddenly make them scary and more powerful

Yes, the flashing armor dissapearing in the first Metroid was just NES limitations.
Same with Super
>>
>>324121286
Samus Power Suit is made of hard light that is stored in the Zero Suit. Think of the Zero suit as a recharging battery, when Samus stores her suit in the little pocket dimension in the Zero Suit, the Power Suit is recharging. If the suit is damaged the Zero Suit will repair it. Advanced Chozo Technology.
>>
>>324121750
GBA AI doesn't suddenly change the fact that you now have no means to kill these space pirates that can still jack you up. Hell, the game shows that off by letting you run through the area and destroy those same enemies with ease once you get your suit back.
>>
>>324112835
Are you rusing with those Spider-Man games m8?
>>
>>324121880
Maybe if you're a shitter

It took 15 minutes at MOST to do and was a neat ending segment

"Waah why can't I just blast through all my enemies in 2 seconds anymore :'("
>>
>>324121750
Samus has had a suit of armor that was controlled by her emotions since 1994.
>>
>>324121906

>Made of hard light

What? Chozo it's like energy to matter tranference which is the modern idea of what makes the power suite leagues ahead of other tech.

It's how it can absorb other technologies and integrate them.

So is it just hardwired into her brain how to summon it? Like some weird Sailor Moon shit?

That's the impression I got from Zero Mission and Other M, but it bothers me that the suit is apparently attached to her at all times, even if it isn't physically there.

>>
>>324122549
It's biologically connected to her. Apparently the Chozo didn't just enhanced her with their DNA, they also cybernetically enhanced her to wear the Power Suit since the suit needs a neural connection to work. This is also why the suit wasn't able to be removed during her X parasite infestation.
>>

Well that's an american comic from the 90s so it's not canon anyway.
>>
>>324123057
Energy to matter conversion, due to the suit being solid physical object at that point, the Federation was able to surgically remove the infected parts of the suit & build an entirely new suit on top of the Organic layer of the suit.
>>
>>324123256
But that one page from an american strategy guide is.
>>
>>324123308
Well that's obviously wrong because if it simply deactivates when Samus is weak-willed/unconscious, then it wouldn't have required surgery to remove at all.
>>324123346
I think I know what you're talking about is and I'm not sure what it has to do with this conversation.
>>
>>324123398
The X like Halo's Flood infect a species neural networks, Samus suit is connected to her neural networks, so when Samus was infected guess who was in control of the Power Suit at the time.
>>
>>324123514
If it was in control of the Power Suit then why didn't it stop the scientists from removing it and just absorb Samus? Also why would the Chozo, who knew about X and designed Metroid to combat them, not prepare their top of the line battle suit to fight them just in case?
>>
>>324123514
Still feels like Other M was a bigass retcon considering the whole point was the SA-X grew a body around her old suit parts.

>INB4 the 9 other SA-X
>>
>>324123629
Samus will power made it hard for the x to fully infect her. Super Metroid was supposed to end the series so Sakamoto just came up with something as an excuse to give Samus a new armor.
