How do Igit gud?I feel like I'm wasting my turns while enemies rapidly grow in troop numbers as I pretty much stagnate in comparison. Any general tips, what should I prioritize etc? Are dungeons worth doing?

I was pretty much going with quality > quantity and It worked nicely until Tokugawa, who pretty much amassed over 18k troops since the game's start, which I couldn't possibly handle. I think my biggest mistake was vassallizing stuff instead of outright conquering.
In general, what should I keep an eye out for? Should I just always prioritize conquest, or find a balance between building relationships and dungeoning?

I've only finished the game twice so my tips probably are the opposite of what the pros do.
Building relationships with characters is generally second to me compared to making sure my kingdom is stable and capable of self-defense and taking a castle a turn. Unless you're going for a specific route or have actual plans to make a specific unit OP, I doubt most of it will be necessary. Conquest is definitely the safest way to go. If you're being overrun by several countries/one really strong country, use the covert actions to shut them down for a turn. I generally don't focus on dungeoneering at all until way later, as it doesn't affect the army battles at all as far as I can tell.

Big Bang Age is translated, also by Alicesoft and has a lot of similarities to SR
Sengoku Gensokyo is a doujin rance clone featuring touhou characters and locations. No lewds. it's translated but make sure you update the game, i somehow ended up playing the whole thing on the 1.0 patch while the most recent patch added a shitload of content.
Eiyuu Senki is another Rance clone where you play as a japanese guy and conquer the world, all the enemy leaders are girl versions of various historical figures. pic related is vlad the impaler.
The R18 version of the game is PC only, but the only translation available is for the PS3 version of the game, which was just recently released on PSN.

Mainly troop size. Having assassinate2 helps. It will ALWAYS fail on characters flagged as 'important' though. Note that not all important characters have unique sprites. Some generics have it as well, even if they have no actual dialogue. If it doesn't work multiple times even with a reasonable troop size, then give up.

The first game has been translated but...it's a machine translation. THe 2nd game was too but at least they edited that shit afterwards.
3, 4, 4.1 and 4.2, and Kichikuou have all been translated by people here on 4chan and they're good translations.
If you want to play Quest or IX, there's dedicated dictionaries to use with VNR which will get you through the game and more or less know what's going on. I never was lost playing Evenicle that way.

who cares if it takes all your AP and prep time if it's guaranteed to push the meter 100% to your side. You also get her extremely early and easily, which makes her very important in situations like your first playthrough when you probably won't have any good officers from mouri/takeda/one-eyed and need to kill those fuckers in the demon army castles with zillions of troops.
Of course she's also invaluable on the harder settings when the other houses start packing 9999 strong footmen left and right, even Omachi won't be able to dent those units like Natori can. It doesn't need to be quite that extreme though, unit defenses mean diviners are rarely ever going to do as much damage as Natori, and also just as importantly she'll do full damage no matter how many troops she has.
Even outside battle she's one of the more useful commanders, since seeing her on visits to Rance's room instantly fills his affection meter.

Like I said before, I never had a problem understanding anything when going through Evenicle. I even had Arunaru with me and asking him if I was understanding things right when trying to guess ahead in the plot and I was right most of the time.

The gameplay is solid enough to be interesting and the plot is quite simple (while good) and the game is straightforward.
So even though I'm reluctant to reccommend MTing anything I believe it's probably fine to do it.
With VI i'm not so sure but at least the gameplay is good.
With IX I think you'll get a very devalued experience and the gameplay isn't good enough to play the game while missing it's stronger points.
What I'd advise is learning Japanese and using Evenicle and Quest as an early game while your learning
