I like to think of gender confused "people" as weak.
The change seems to occur most in "people" between the age of 8 and 20, when the human body is most into it's stage of growth, when hormones are surging and the mind is most unstable.
The desire to switch gender usually comes from the idea that the grass is greener on the other side, for the majority it is that they wish to become a woman, so they never have to grow up, so that they can remain childish and mothered by other people - so that they never have to go through adulthood. Got a friend. Failure at life, basically. Poor family, seriously unlucky genetics. I can see identifying as a trans-man/woman, but not outwardly. That is to say, saying you're the gender you want to be, but engaging in the transgender community to offer support to other transgenders. They've basically internalized the gender distinction CODE so deeply, so unquestionably, that they really do believe that they are "changing genders" when they switch out a few designated "male" parts for "female" parts. No need to switch out personality traits, as these people are probably inauthentic enough to be total chameleons without any really inclination of their own (just objectives and directives issued from elsewhere).
Just because you crossed the line that was drawn up between them, that doesn't mean you're suddenly on the other side of gender: you're just on the other side of that line that was drawn approximately. For a sex change to truly change your sex, that would assume we've 100% charted every distinction between men and women and could somehow track that transition well enough to rule out misunderstanding. This is a kind of air-tight wish fulfillment where criticism doesn't even get a chance to exist, and you can easily see the unstoppable insanity woven into the interpretation of things.
