so i'm gonna play a new game to get up to level 30 40 or 50 or whatever is required for the two DLCs. for my first (and only) playthrough I skipped like 90% of all the sidequest stuff since most of what I could find was repetitive and boring (talk to npc in town, they expose some problem they have to you, you go kill monster or follow some trails, come back to talk to npc and they try to give you feels. ), but I could've just missed most of the good stuff.
also, is it worth it rummaging for armor and weapons or is there something early on you can get that's just OP?

Hearts of Stone is one of the best if not the best expansion to come out since the inception of DLC. It surpasses the base game in areas in which the original game excels at. You get a great story, interesting characters, challenging and unique boss fights, and there are many different opportunities to structure the narrative to how you want it to go. If you have Witcher 3, but don't have HoS yet, you need to get on that ASAP.
