I think a fighting game with just fighting-type Pokemon would be diverse enough to be fun, and you could be add a bit of depth without resorting to gimmicks. There's plenty of actual martial arts these pokemon imitate. Just from a starting roster you have
- Hitmonlee
- Hitmonchan
- Machamp
- Mienshao
- Medicham
- Hariyama
- Hawlucha
- Primeape
- Throh
- Sawk
- Scrafty
That's 10 right there, and each could have a unique moveset without being imitations of each other. Primeape and Hitmonchan could differ with different types of boxing, Throh and Sawk with whatever they're supposed to be (I think judo? kendo?).
All in all it'd make for an interesting fighting game without resorting to gimmicks, assists, or 2D/3D arena stuff.

Its a pokemon fighting game its great that non fighting types are making it in but why wouldn't they make the most iconic fighting types playable is beyond me especially since they fit real world fighting styles it would be easy to develop moves and fit them into the game. At least we got machamp.

Yes it has online. Typical Friend and Ranked matches. There's also LAN mode for proper versus since the regular local mode forces the gamepad and makes the game run at 30.

At the start I would have said no because I wanted nidoking, golurk and scyther. But after seeing what we got I'd rather they throw out the whole roster and use fighting types just so we have a chance at getting someone that I'd want to play. Maybe then I'd get hitmonlee, scrafty, or heracross.
It's not that I hate every pokemon they chose, they just all happen to be mons I'm not a huge fan of. I like charizard, pikachu, and lucario just fine but I'm tired of them. I don't hate anybody on there at least, but I'm not getting it if I don't have anyone I want to play as. Maybe mewtwo I guess.
