So, anyone here who actually owns this bad boy? I'm looking for a controller to end all controllers mainly for PC usage (although I'm idort so I could use it with Xbone too obviously) and this sure tingles my interest, but the price tag is still extremely harsh.

Is it really *that* much better than the regular Xbone controller?
>>
okay
>>
>owning a gen 8 console
>>
>>323966158
My friend swears by it.
>>
>>323966158
Yes it is a major improvement.

$150 is a bit steep(would have been fine for around $110 max)
>>
What's supposed to be the difference between the controllers? (other than the D-Pad)
>>
>>323968265
Elite has a better rubber grip material, sticks and d-pad that are metal instead of plastic and have replacable hats on them, its buttons can be reassigned, it has an hair-trigger option that makes the triggers faster to press and it has special control "paddles" in its back. It is also heavier and far more robust than the normal controller.

So yes, it is much better than the normie model. It is just still a tad bit overpriced.
>>
>>323966158
Just another "MLG PRO" controller, why anyone would buy it is beyond me.
>>
>>323966158

It's a huge improvement. Feels good, works well. By a pretty big margin the best controller I've ever used. If you're concerned about the quality, don't be.

Quality aside though, $150 is a lot of fucking money for a controller, even if it is a really nice one. I'm happy with it. Your mileage may vary.
>>
>>323968708
Because every button can be mapped to be any other button you want
>>
>>323966158
>those sticks
>that "d-pad"
ahahahaha nope
>>
>>323969232
Both changeable, you can put a normal d-pad on the place of that solar panel and you get 3 setsnof sticks: traditional Xbone, high and DS3 style.
>>
>>323966158
This is the best controller ever made, hands down.

The Xbone controller was already the GOAT, and the Elite improves on it.

If you have the shekels, get it.
>>
>>323968708
Because I'm not a poor, loser NEET.

I bought 2 of them. Stay mad, poorfag.
>>
>>323968630
Buttons can be reassigned on any controller on xbox one tho

what the fuck makes it worth $150 though?

Is that supposed to be a good thing?
>>

You can already remap buttons on pc, though.
>>

Until you can make the paddles act as their own separate buttons on PC there's no reason.

I own it. I don't think it's $150 good, but it's really nice. I think $100 would've been fair for it.

I must post this every time somebody gets stupid about that.

>>323969950
>>323968708
I would prioritize getting a mechanical keyboard and a competent mouse over getting the Elite controller.

>>323971486
>>323969131
Not entirely true. You can remap to any controller buttons, not to keybind freely. You can use xpadder to an extent, but the paddle keys are stuck being alternate controller buttons, which is a major shame.

I find that really too bad. Those paddle buttons are unique, but MS doesn't let you bind them uniquely to keypresses as their whole mindset is stuck with Xbone needs first and foremost. At least I can actually use the "xbox accessories" app wirelessly instead of having to be tethered each time I want to remap the controller.

(I got the thing on launch date, and boy that app was terrible. The wireless dongle wouldn't play nice with it for one)

How can I have money to throw away like you do anon?
>>
>>323973603
Not like I bought these all at once.
>>
>>323966158
That shit looks amazing for fighting games. Wish I got one but opted for the master chief controller.
>>
>>323966158
I actually got mine in the mail today, and I'm having fun tooling around with it. I agree that the price point is steep, but I ended up getting it for myself for Christmas.

This thing oozes a surprising amount of quality, it's got a great sturdy feel to it, strong magnets that hold the sticks and pads in place, the grips on the handle are comfy, and it has a LOT of options for mapping and fine tuning it.

All that being said, are there any games anyone could recommend for me to play that will get me used to the paddles? I'm using mine on my Xbone and have been toying around with DS2, Halo 5, and Destiny but I still haven't really warmed up to them

Gabecontroller comes with wireless adapter right off the bat, which is a plus. None of the others do.
Steam is the most customizable, and it has a gyro in it that actually works with PC games. The problem is that the functionalities are mostly locked into Big Picture Mode.
Build wise, the steam controller feels the cheapest, with shitty bumpers. It's not fragile, but it leaves much to be desired in how it feels plasticky. The touchpad is the best touchpad, bar none.

Steam controller is not the best at being a 360 controller. That goes to the Elite controller. Steam controller does mousing way better than DS4's touchpad. The mousing and the tilt support make me like this more than DS4 at being a multimedia home theater option.
>>
>>323974232
That's an interesting choice, I might practice with Minecraft or something else pretty basic. My biggest use I have planned for them is to replace my D-pad and the Y button with them so I can control my equipment without taking my fingers off the sticks
>>
>>323975389
*For Dark Souls 3, I managed to not complete my thought before posting it like a moron
>>
Unless they've changed the micro usb port just get a permanently wired Xbone controller so you don't have to deal with the port being too loose for a connection in 6 months time. I'd buy an elite if it weren't for that. Plug and charge kit will kill the controller over time.
>>
>>323966158
regular controllers now have button mapping too, so no

Yeah. Don't get the ones that are 2560x1080. You won't have enough vertical space really. 3440x1440 is much more usable. I am using the Dell, which doesn't have that freesync 120Hz+ shit.

>>323976085
Button mapping through xbox accessories app on PC? Nope. Only the elite can do that. Normal controllers have to live with xpadder.
>>
>>323977058
There is PC support

Windows 10 only. Windows 7-8 use it as a standard 360 controller

for one example 100% OJ flickers in full screen mode

I don't fullscreen for Nep. This is why. I have to either face cropping or forcibly put my screen at 2560x1440 as the game doesn't scale nice with 21:9.

>the price tag is still extremely harsh.
"Harsh" isn't even the word for it.

It's $150 for a gamepad.

$150 for a fucking gamepad!

$150 is reasonable for a fighting stick, or a flight stick, but anything more than half of that is ridiculous for a gamepad. Even the stock Xbone gamepads are overpriced, but this is just plain OBSCENE.
>>
>>323966158
>that dpad

What the hell? How does that even work?
>>
>>323986462
The fact that people still bought an xbone after its shitshow of a reveal should tell you many things about the stupidity of xbox fanboys.
>>
>>323972640

Why would it become standard when they can just keep selling it separately
>>
I don't get those button in the back things. I get that it can allow quicker access to more buttons for shooters but wouldn't that feel very uncomfortable to hold after awhile? You literally have buttons that shouldn't be there on a standard controller.
>>
>>323986749
This isn't about Xbone vs PS4 vs PC, though. For what it's worth, IMO the DS4 is just as overpriced as the stock Xbone controller (same goes for the Steam pad). But those are the options you're stuck with short of aftermarket controllers. Anyone who spends $150 on a gamepad, though, should have their head examined.
>>
>>323987302
I was mighty curious so I became the first rat in to get it on launch date. I agree that it should be priced at $100.
>>
>>323987302
Will this pad even last long? For a price that ridiculous it better be durable to the point where it can take serious abuse and work well even after many years.

Also people can still just use 360, DS3 or logitech control pads.
>>
>>323986096
>>323986184
This is why I don't fuck with non-standard aspect ratios.
On that note, why are all these new monitors 16:10?
>>
>>323987847
16:10 is better for desktop productivity due to the fact that you can put the bar on the bottom. If you go with 16:9, then you have less vertical real estate to work with.
>>
>>323988039

I have the taskbar on the side. Felt weird at first but now it's the only way
>>
>>323966158
I like it, but I rarely use it on my PC. It is nice for the occasional platformer or to fly in Battlefront (since the game uses joystick emulation now instead of direct input like in the beta).

I don't think it is worth 150 tho
>>
>>323987420
That's still high. I don't care how well it's made, it still doesn't even have fucking bluetooth so while you can use it on PC, you can't use it wirelessly without a dongle.

>>323987485
At the price the stock controllers go for, even they had better damn well last the better part of a decade at least.

And yes, the last gen pads are an option, too (Logitech counts as aftermarket), and more reasonably priced. DS3 is a PITA to get working wirelessly with PC, though, and 360 has the same need for a dongle as the Xbone.
>>
>>323988527
It's $170 as the TCO when you factor in the dongle. I bought that too. You are right on that count.

I would price a controller to be on par with a top flight gaming mouse though. I guess that's where you and I won't see eye to eye. Then again, $100 MSRP would mean a price closer to $80 or below when a sale kicks in.
>>
>>323988810
Yeah, I wouldn't spend more than $60 or so on a mouse, either, but I don't play FPS and don't use a mouse for general computer use (I use a trackball).
