People here have stopped spamming FIVE NINETY NINE preemptively because they know this piece of shit is going to cost more, the Valve cocksuckers.
>>
>>323956056
Of course it's going to cost the same or more. With Oculus you still have to spend more to get the Touch controllers. It's even more than $599. People would have had no problem with $599 if it came with touch which was already assumed to be $150ish.
>>
>>323956347
Good thing I'm not buying this shit for wagglan and most people won't either. They'll see OR is cheaper and go for that.
>>
This thing actually has VR controllers in the bundle. Who knows how much the Oculus touch is gonna cost.
>>
Why would anyone buy one of these right out the gate? Early adopters are now, and will always be BTFO

Ok, I'll bite. Sell me on it. What is the must have game for VR's launch? What will I be absolutely missing out on for waiting for a better model with a larger library?

Also
>everyone are having fun
Irrelevant I know, but it bugs me none the less.
>>
>>323958168
elite dangerous (+other flying sims) is gonna be good, assetto corsa (+other racing sims) is gonna be great, horror games might be spoopy.
>>
>>323958168
Who cares about games? I'm getting it for VR porn.
>>
>>323958692
It's very possible, all those games could be great. However I'm more so worried about all the bandwagon shovelware that is probably going to sell well due to the hype of VR. I prefer to let those kinds of things sort themselves out before throwing my hat in. I can't wait to play good VR games. Just cautiously optimistic is all.
>>
>>323959097
This is also a factor, I wanna try it. But try to imaging getting caught with your pants down because you wrapped up in virtual THICKand have no idea what's going on around you.
>>
>>323958168
Every thread I need to remind people that this is a display. It's not like a console launch that needs games launched with it. It's not about "KILLER APPS". It's about playing ALL games in a new perspective.
>>
where are the headphones?

That thing doesn't have headphones
>>
>>323959575
yeah have to agree, and with the price tag of 600$ whilst still running a i5-2400 and gtx770 it'll take me awhile to get my hands on one anyways
;_;
>>
>>323960192
move out of your parents house, you goober.
>>
>>323961021
But then I wouldn't be able to afford it :(
>>
>>323960451
Yea but it's got all this tech in it for new gameplay elements. Using it solely as a display for current games is a bit of a waste of potential, don't you think? Besides, the new perspective is really just a perk, while the immersion and new gameplay possibilities are the selling point.
>>
>>323960514
Wait, does Vive really not have headphones? While rift includes really high end ones? Not looking good for Vive.

>Vive is $1000

How does VR stand a snowball's chance at hell of being successful when it's this insanely expensive?
>>
>>323961381
then how about not jacking off to virtual boobs, daddy.
>>
>>323961280
I think immersion is the most important thing about it, feeling presence inside a game world is the most exciting part. So I don't see lowly VR games as a driving force here. Real games with fully fleshed worlds and great graphics and atmosphere are what I'm going to be using the thing for.
>>
>>323961521
Sorry not everyone here is the NEET you know we can be.
>>323961770
Not him but does the rift come with shit headphones? Not really up to date on total package specs.
>>
>>323961312
Consumer version will have headphones.
>>
>>323961865
It doesn't.

This is why VR has never been a success when they tried it in the past. It was too expensive and it didn't have any uses that made people willing to dish out the money for it.

This time seems no different. Have they even showed any games for these devices yet that actually did anything you couldn't do without the VR gimmick?

I own this game, and it is rancid shit. The Vision and forumdads have ruined.

I also own this. It's great, but unless you have a wheel, it isn't worth the VR.

At least you mentioned horror games.

Enjoy spending money thinking you are buying happiness and then watching the thing gather dust on your shelf because the shitty novelty software you get with it will last 2 weeks.

>>323962106
I'm right there with you. However, all I can see is the market being flooded with shit while everyone tries pushing the first working build the have out the door. Early access is only going to get worse, but with less complaints due to the feeling of immersion working at least semi properly, people will love the new experience.. I really hope I'm wrong on this, but I really don't think I will be.
>>
>showcase over 10 new VR experiences for the HTC Vive on Steam VR Developer Showcase
1 of those 10+ HAS to be a new Valve game.
>>
>Complaining that the first iteration of a semi-new technology is expensive
The CV1 is, essentially, just DK3. It won't be consumer-friendly until they come with foveated rendering to reduce spec requirements, production line/parts improvements to reduce cost, etc. Reality is, you can't just keep dumping thousands into R&D only to release something years later which never has a chance at bringing a profit, sooner or later you've got to draw a line before it gets feature-creepy, and that comes with its own issues.
>>
Call me when they make a wireless headset with 270º FOV.

This isn't shocking at all didn't HTC's CEO just a couple days ago sat they were selling a "premium" product? VR isn't for the mainstream anyway all this shit is gonna be expensive as fuck save for Gear VR which is mediocre and probably Playstation VR since they could afford to sell that thing at a loss
>>
>>323968310
>probably Playstation VR
It's just an HMD disgused as VR.
The PS4 can't do VR, plain and simple.
Atleast not anything from this decade.
>>
>>323969117
>source : my bloody ass
>>
>>323969364
>Sony are magically going to bypass the fairly-heavy hardware requirements of VR
It's just an HMD with Move2.0 gimmicked on top.
>>
>>323969117
You know it has been demoed a lot already, right?
People that tested it didn't find any immediate obvious problems with it.
>>
>>323962141
>Have they even showed any games for these devices yet that actually did anything you couldn't do without the VR gimmick?
If a thing must do something unique instead of better than previous one
LCD wouldn't replace CRT
>>
>>323969608
It's been demo'd with alpha test projects.
You're not going to get a full AAA game with it like Rift/Vive
>>
>>323969723
Honestly I'd say you'd get a full aaa title with PS VR way before you get one with the rift/vive. There's gonna be a much higher adoption rate with the PS VR regardless of whatever quality it might have because it's for a console. How many people are gonna own a rift/vive and actually be able to run shit for it on their pcs
>>
>>323970348
>There's gonna be a much higher adoption rate with the PS VR regardless of whatever quality it might have because it's for a console.
No.
Console plebs constantly bitch about cost.
> How many people are gonna own a rift/vive and actually be able to run shit for it on their pcs
Pre-orders have been sold out.

Trying to forget hardware limitations does you no good. Sony is simply trying to hop on the hype train and chip away what they can.
>>
>>323969723
>You're not going to get a full AAA game with it like Rift/Vive
They already have several games with support lined up like Ace Combat 7 and Gran Turismo 7.

>>323970565
>Pre-orders have been sold out.
For the Oculus? No they haven't.

>Trying to forget hardware limitations does you no good.
It has an external processor that comes with it. It's not just relying on the PS4 to power it.
>>
>>323971390
>with support lined up like Ace Combat 7 and Gran Turismo 7.
I'd like to see those in action and more specifically their performance.
>>
how the fuck
HOW THE FUCK does sony win again by not doing anything.

I'm so glad I wasn't involved in the oculus development, what a fucking joke.
>>
Good.

Let the VR meme fail and burn.
