But you can just can just bring up the pop-up description in the stats menu. It tells you exactly what they do, the only exception being the increase in casting speed when you reach 40/45 DEX.

The game doesn't tell me shit about "resistance", or "poise" or "item discovery".
Is resistance my defence stat? What does poise do beyond some vague shit about staggering? Is item discovery more than just my drop rate?

Resistance is self explanatory, higher defense you take less damage from that attack
Poise is exactly that, the higher it is the less you stagger
Item Discovery means you find more and better items
There's an explanation of what each stat does and every parameter in game as soon as you reach the first bonfire you can level up in.

If you press select in the stats screen you can hover over EVERY SINGLE FUCKING THING and it gives you a detailed description of what it is and what it does.
