Speaking as someone who hasn't played Awakeningand isn't really a fan of the series in generalMarth, Ike, and Robin don't bother me. They're all unique in their own ways and play differently enough. Lucina being virtually indistinguishable from Marth bugs me a little, but much like Dr. Mario and all, she's there to pad out the roster, not to take the place of other characters. Roy I'm not too bothered by, since he's DLC and all. The new one, Corrin or whatever, initially annoyed me since it was another FE character, but his moveset looks different from all the rest and so I'm fine with it, aside from them using a character from a game that isn't out yetthough I guess they had the Woolly World stage before, so whatever.

Personally, I haven't spent enough time with either Bayonetta to truly master the combat, so I can only speak from a layman's standpoint.
Bayonetta 1's pros include:
-Free costumes unlocked from the start that, most importantly, give you access to the Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa ability right away
-A multitude of weapons that its sequel does not offer
-Five difficulty levels compared to Bayo2's four, along with a slightly higher difficulty in general (though whether that is a pro or con depends on you)
-According to people who are incredibly accomplished at the genre, Bayo1's mechanics are more involved and in-depth than Bayo2's
-A final boss that looks great, but plays mediocre
Bayonetta 2's pros include:
-A multitude of weapons that its prequel does not offer
-The removal of instant-death trophy-tarnishing QTEs
-Non-combat sequences like Route 666 and the Afterburner section from Bayo1 have mostly been either removed or toned down significantly in length
-Getting hit no longer depletes magic, and Umbran Climax makes things simpler, along with a lower difficulty level in general (again, pro or con is dependent)
-Online Tag Climax mode
-A final boss that plays great, but lacks in spectacle compared to the first
From a personal standpoint, I think Bayonetta 2 is better overall, but that's partially because the insta-death QTEs in Bayo 1 and the Route 666 and Afterburner sections were always annoying to me, and also because I'm not good enough at the game yet to really be good at the combat mechanics. It also has more varied environments and some really cool weapons.

As fun as it would've been to see Platinum doing a Nintendo-themed action game, I can't deny that I absolutely love W101 for everything it is. The sentai theme works perfectly with it, and a lot of the stuff in the game just wouldn't have worked or felt as charming if it were all Nintendo, I feel.
The Punch-Out segments wouldn't have been as entertaining if we were already expecting it, and, all things considered, Mother Brain would have been a rather anticlimactic boss fight compared with Jergingha.
Also Nintendo games are, for the most part, entirely devoid of giant robots, which only made things better in W101.
I wouldn't mind seeing more Nintendo mashups ala Smash, but I think it'd work better as some sort of massive world-spanning RPG instead of a pure action game. Maybe Platinum can tackle one of Nintendo's series proper after they're done with StairFax and Nier and all.
