>“We decided to take the full leap and publish HITMAN as a truly episodic game experience, part of that decision is for that little bit of extra time to ensure every location we release is at the quality level fitting for a HITMAN game. But the main driving reason is that this will allow us to create a living game that will expand and evolve over time and establish a foundation for the future – this is the first game in a storyline which will continue and expand with future Hitman games.”

Why would you fucking do this?
>>
Because Final Fantasy faggots bent over and let Square ram their cock into them (episodically) and now they're going to do it to everything else.

It's not like TellTale made it popular in the first place, right?
>>
>>323940108
because it's a reasonable thing to do. I think they should ditch the story and other bollocks nd just make big sandbox missions with interesting ways to kill your target and then add more levels and hits.

They keep making changes over and over and now I am confused and dont know what I am getting. Is the game still $60?

So this is it huh?

They are going to make what looks like a great Hitman game only to fuck it up and stumble at the finish line? Really square? This is what you are going to do? Take a great looking game and hamfist in this stupid fucking model that will probably make the game tank hard as fuck?

Jesus Christ.

I'm going to wait for all of the episodic content to come out before I buy it but I'm actually pretty excited. If they're putting a bunch of polish into each level individually and not just making a few good ones and a few rushed ones then it should be great.

You fags don't understand. You pay 60$ and get the whole game, except they don't have all levels finished right now. Which is why they're taking more time to ensure every level is good, and you get it when they finish it
>>

>>
>>323942863
Well, they announced it too early and waiting 2 years for a free Hitman movie marketing campaign is just too good an opportunity to pass up.
>>
>>323942704
>Buy this thing now

>>
>>323942704
>Which is why they're taking more time to ensure every level is good, and you get it when they finish it

Uh huh. I'm sure they are going to have a full dev working on polishing those levels after sales have tapered of in a few months, and there is little more profit to be made.
>>
>>323942958
>free Hitman movie marketing
Why would you even want to associate yourself with that piece of shit. I also think everyone forgot about that abomination before it even released.
>>
>>323942704

So that means when they don't make as much money as they thought they would, they can just cancel production and release whatever half-ass shit they were working on.

On the flip side, if they make tons of money then they can drag it on for years ala World of WarCraft.

GENIUS

Is this news? I thought this was the plan from the very beginning. At least, that's the way their retarded marketing made it seem.

>hey square doesn't trust this to be a profitable series anymore and everyone, fans and newcomers alike, hated the last game, so we're on a bit of short leash
>introducing hitman absolution 2: pay as you go edition

All the previews and leaks made this look like the same Absolution dogshit most people expected.

>>
>>323940108

That reminds me, I need to finish the old games. I love the concept, but so far the series has left me wanting. The first one was really annoying with its "Fuck up and you start all over" thing. I don't mind being punished for failure, but as long and difficult as some of the levels were, that was a bit much. The second game improved on every failing from the first game, but created new problems, like disguises sometimes just not working and the run key doubling as a suicide key.
>>
>>323944314
Contracts and especially Blood Money are the only really good ones that have stood the test of time.
>>
>>323944212
Don't blame yourself, I have to look through that webm twice to notice something that bad.

Those guys in charge of editing the hitman movie trailer really deserves a raise, because I honestly thought it looked kinda faithful to the original when I first saw it.
>>
>>323944404

I haven't heard much about Contracts aside that people complained about rehashing, but Blood Money I've heard great things about, so I'm definitely looking forward to it. When it came out I remember there being a lot of Hitman 2 vs Blood Money arguments, but they seem to have died down.
>>
>>323943676

"It's your fault devs can't understand some simple shit like what makes good open world games good!"
>>
>>323944404
>>323944560
I haven't played the first 2 games but I think the triad levels are rehashed in contracts, the original levels is very good and contracts IMO is probably the most atmospheric game in the series.

If you go in BM after 1 and 2 you will be surprised how overpowered the disguises are compare to the older games, but it's still pretty fucking good at everything else.

>>
>>323944685
That anon is right; both normalfags and /v/ have an almost pathologic hate for lineal games.
Everything has to be a fucking sandbox.
>>
>>323944779
Disguises in 1 are even more overpowered than in BM.
>>
>>323944560
Contracts basically just remade some of the best levels from the first game, which is a good thing. Worst thing about it is that it's short and that some of the last levels are a bit weak and the game ends abruptly.
BM is undisputedly god tier aside from the AI being a bit quirky and some bugs. Remember this is something that's meant to be replayed and experimented with.

"Episodic" is just "Early access" rebranded.
>>
>>323940108
>truly episodic game experience
what the fuck does that mean
>>
>>323940468
The thing is, I can understand why Life is Strange is episodic; it has the same "gameplay" and style of a Tell Tale game, which doesn't make it good, but at least you understand why would you want to release a game like this (more profit). But a JRPG is not meant to be an episodic genre, not at all.

It feels like that Katamari game (can't remember the name) with 4 secret levels on the disc that you have to pay for, it makes no sense at all.
