I'd consider it different because it'd be based around that, rather than the creators stuffing those specific episodes in to pad the main storyline.
I'd genuinely watch one that focused on them and what they did outside missions with a couple of REALLY well done action and fight-based story arcs thrown here and there.
The Road to Ninja manga chapter is still one of my all-time favourites because it shows the Konoha ninja just fucking around and having fun, but not in a way that made me cringe or get bored.

Quality-wise, the story mode has pretty good gameplay. Perfect if your not a fan of the anime. The way you can switch between characters on the fly rather than just calling them in to do one technique is something I've dreamed about since Storm 1. Linked awakening looks cool, but I can tell it's just too OP. They also added a few cool things like multiple rounds in a fight, destructible environments, and elemental damage (for example fire sticks around to do continuous damage unless your near water or something). I believe this is gonna be the best Storm game yet.
Of course, if it's not your thing, it's not your thing. I don't see a reason to press why people would spend their money on it.

It started out as just people who had the ability to breathe fire and run up trees. Then it somehow transformed into godlike abilities, space-time manipulation and reality-warping. The show legitimately started going downhill - I think - once space-time ninjutsu became a common occurance, rather than a once-off, super-rare, super-powerful one-hit-wonder technique.
