For Laurence, stand in front of him, fairly close range, but not point blank. Roll into whatever arm is attacking, and strike after his combo is done, behind him. It helped me immensely to do this phase without camera lock on. Dont be greedy.

Kill all the spiders in phase 1, then dps Rom. Use bolt paper if you can. Then in phase 2 and 3 ignore the spiders and just beat on Rom, don't lock on so it's easier to avoid the spiders. Make sure to run out when he does his AOE.

Chalice Dungeons or just Forbidden Woods runs, the shortcut straight to the two pigs before Shadows of Yharnam is good.
You can ignore the Spiders in Rom's fight though and just sprint to her, hit her a few times and back away.
Or just always side-dash and hit the spiders in the back/side, then just focus on her, never try to kill more than one spider at a time, you'll get swarmed, just kill one, and back off.
Also you can hit Rom while she's teleporting for some extra damage, before she disappears completely.

I'm still on the fence of whether Paleblood wants you to kill the source of the beast scourge because it wants other Great One children dead or because it wants you to farm a shitload of blood so that Gerhman can harvest it when he chops your head off at the end. I say that because of the doll's line that she can feel all of the blood echos coursing through you by the time the Red Moon descends.

No enemy in bloodborne has frustrated me as much as those anchor wielding fuckers do. Not even brain trusts or the spider summoning bitches in chalice dungeons.
The worst part of it is they're not even mechanically complicated or difficult, they just have so much god damn HP, so much tracking, and do so much damage while also hitting many times in a row so that if they clip you once or nail you head on with their dive attack you'll probably get wombo comboed to death. Maybe its because I'd always get so close to killing the two in the well then slip up and get gibbed by the last one that makes them frustrate me so much but FUCK. Thank god they're easy to just run past otherwise.

Yes but the parry timing is an ass to learn at first since you have to adjust for that stall on the wind up of their attacks. I finally just caved and shaman bone cheesed them in the well so I could move on.
of course SBB strategy has a glitch to it where many times they'll get so close to each other that neither can hit the other and they just make out for a while until the SBB status ends.

That wasn't Rom on the Altar, you can tell by the length of the legs. Rom was the first of the humans to be enlightened, some time before the falling out of Brygenwerth that led to the Healing Church, Gehrman, etc. She was enlightened and became the blood, and eventually ultimately used to hold back the Nightmare that Micolash was spreading with the use of Mergo and Oedon's Blood.

I think since you jump DOWN into the lake that the Rom you kill there is the actual Rom and the corpse with Ebrietas is Rom's 'dream self'. Going off of how the dream worlds are layered.
Seems like the higher up the food chain a great one is the higher up its home 'layer' is. You notice in the old hunters when you go into the fishing hamlet and look down at the water you can see the city submersed in it for instance, implying that the hamlet exists on a layer above the nightmare you climbed the clocktower in.
But thats just speculation from me.

Ebrietas and Rom arguably aren't even Great Ones by the way. They both count as Kin and are affected by +kin damage gems. Kin are the brethren of the Great Ones, but not Great Ones themselves.
