Exactly the same here, I think it was just way too boring the first time around because of the lack of content and skills/spells. But now it's one of my favorite games on PC, love the setting as well.

There are many interchangeable passive clusters and keystones for most builds though. For example someone might choose to sacrifice passive points elsewhere to get an extra curse.

Right now the game has a serious case of too many lv1 talismans and not enough stone circles.

I rented it from Gamefly when it first came out and couldn't stand the game. I only got a couple hours in but sent it back pretty much the same day.
A few years later I was looking for a game to play and websites kept putting it in the top 10 games on the Xbox 360. I bought it used for like $8 and fell in love with the game, just in time for Mass Effect 2.
I should go replay it at some point.

It is, but they're adding a choice of 3 smaller skill trees for each character that have a lot of other choices in them. The exception is Scion, who only has one tree, but they've been super minor on the details for hers.
Will they make Scion's starting nodes not shit? Right now it's pretty much always better to start with another class and just grab some shit from Scion's area.

That's not true at all, the sockets really are that good. Scion start is totally legit for a lot of builds.
