Spore. The trailer looked amazing. The game was cool when you were microscopic, but then it turned into genocide if you were carnivorous and jazz-hands if you were an herbivore. They made it super cutesy/cheesy/sugary/gay/zazzy like they did to the Sims.

I remember hyping up for ME2. I lived on my own, broke, bored and down to my last 100$. Impulse bought ME2, some cheap chinese food and settled down for a nice lazy sunday.

I was left with less than 10 dollars in change and just remember the sinking feeling of being robbed and taken advantage of my excitement. It was when I stopped gaming and went from console babby to jaded pcuck pirating all the time and rarely paying for any form of digital media.

In summary, EA and Bioware turned me into a sissy-cuck degenerate thief.

This so much. Spore took all my naivety away at once, never been fooled again even nearly as badly after that.

And to be honest, I don't exactly get all those people listing Bethesda or Bioware games here, their decline after all happened pretty slowly game by game so you should have been able to adjust your expectations in advance. DA2 is the only game from Bioware that had such an massive drop of quality from it's predecessor that it could actually surprise you.

It's funny that console HM's peaked at BTN/64 and the portable ones continued to get better and better, but this game came really fucking close to killing my interest in the series forever. It's like they decided charm was something wrong they did with previous entries and decided to make this something closer to Sim Farm, but without any of the things that made that good either. Just awful, and i mention all this because it was the first game I ever preordered. Never made that mistake again.

Its really just the poor job they did on the game overall. I can handle optimized graphic cheats like that. Hell im playstation generation, i grew up with a snes. I mean, limiting armies to just generals? The same recycled faces for more then half the factions, those horrible unit cards, the UI that activly retards the players ability to monitor combat, and the engine that was designed for liniar black powder warfare. Then the day one dlc shit. Which is an industry issue. The only reason i bought atillia was because i pirated it in release, saw it was somewhat better and grabbed it on the summer sale for 80% off. And im onlu 112 turns in to my first playthrough, bored with it all ready

Dragon age 2 desu senpai.

DA:O was great, and bioware was still pretty good. I didn't even have high hopes for DA2, considering it only had a one year development cycle with a new engine too. I knew it was just going to a be a shitty cash in, but holy shit it was awful. Like it physically hurt to play that game. The whole time i was just expecting to find something mildly entertaining or interesting, but it never happened. Just 1 city and a handful of corridoor "dungeons"

i live in the midwest so im used to snow, but i loved the mountains and forest. my main problem with the game comes from the varying small little concession that bethesda made to streamline it. but overall, it's good, and it's problems pale in comparison to oblivion's problems. it's not a perfect game by any means, but i don't get 4chan's hatred toward the game.
>>
ac 3. it was all downhill from there

I don't understand 4chan's disdain for Oblivion and Skyrim, as I peruse through Steam's RPGs ( I have almost all the relevant Fantasy RPGs games listed) they stand out as some of the best ever made.

Sure there is some annoying shit but they are still solid games. V is fickle as fuck

Yea, the engine changes were just too much for me to handle. The ai might be better but its not the same game.

The problem with most Bethesdar games aside from the fact that they buggy shit made on a terrible engine is that they have near constant immersion breaking bullshit. Once Oblivion hit "open world" became an excuse to not immerse the player at all in the world or try gauge when the player does what and have that connect with the main story. Nothing gets gated away the game doesn't assume you have done anything else, after you're literally the leader of every guild and damn near the king of all the land random NPC's still think you're a nobody. It's bullshit and the world never feels real or lived in. Scaling everything to you just makes this worse. No thought is put into world building or making sure everything is cohesive and make sense in the way a real fantasy world would function. Not to mention terrible writing mixed in with a few good memorable quests here and there. Every modern Bethesda game is just a sandbox of retardation and power fantasies that you only get to live in your mind.
>>
>>323850354
1. You're nitpicking or shitposting.

With their current habit of filling their game with boring-ass randomized radiant quests I'm afraid TES VI is going to be even worse.

>our village of 3 people is being harassed by some bandits
>you, random stranger in shoddy armor, go take them all out by yourself, I'll mark the cave on your map
>>
>>323850251
Was a pretty fucking huge fan of the first game for its stealth/shooting mechanics/story, but LL came out and kinda took a giant shit on everything I loved about the first.

And I'm not saying the game was shit or anything because its not and if you enjoyed it that's awesome, but for for me it just a kind of disappointment I was not expecting from the devs behind it.
>>
>>323850354
Power fantasy is the purpose of video games.
>>
>>323850785
I think it was how stealth had a pre-determined path to it, if that makes sense. The first one there were multiple ways to be creative with the stealth.

In the second one, the ways to kill the enemies are much more obvious and are limited.
>>

>>
>>323850546
>Tell me how Morrowind doesn't apply.

Have you played Morrowind at all? At the start of the game you're treated like dirt and called an outlander by the end of it you're a literal god among men and people acknowledge it. Not to mention quests are gated away and assume you have done more than fuck all before bum rushing the main story. The writing was way better, literally every tes game since has been squeezing the juice out of the first three games out of the hopes that something will click, because the majority of the original writers are gone.
>>
>>323850785
>>323850987
Really? I didn't pick up on that at all. I bought the redux edition and was actually really impressed how they managed to keep the mechanics exactly the same throughout the two games without it being boring, and I played stealthy for both of them. I guess I preferred 1 though, just thought it had more memorable moments. Stealthing through the Nazi/Red front line was really exciting and the library was really tense with the librarians
>>
>>323851525
I don't know, the stealth in the second one had a much easier feeling to them. I remember playing the second one, and it felt different but I could not put my finger on it.
>>
>>323851168
You know a lot of people hate when a shitty game also happens to be easy. In infinite's case I considered it a courtesy that I could blaze through it and forget about it almost as quick.

I got FFXIII, Damn it was a beautiful game but I played it for 20 mins before running to the store and trading it.
>>
>>323849127
Have you ever considered that some people don't like those fucking games?

I played Oblivion and I immediately realized the game had copypasted dungeons all over, which kills the exploration to me. So I went to try magic skills, and it's a lazy mess.

Spells are blue ball, bigger blue ball, and biggest blue ball, now recolor for other elements. It's just unimaginative garbage. Combat as a whole is weak.

The world and character interaction is quite piss poor, the game just lacks immersion, when two NPCs engage in those creepy conversations. It was a nice concept but fell flat on its face.

Quests are linear as shit, don't give you any room for different approaches.

Ever heard of a game called Mount & blade? Because it creates the feeling of a living world with its own story going on much better than Bethesda RPGs, seeing NPC parties raiding villages and shit. Meanwhile Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim look like stale static worlds.

I was so bored with Oblivion that I skipped all Fallout games. Tried Skyrim and also got bored with it quickly. Those games simply fail to create a great world to explore to me.
>>
>>323849127
Oblivion had negative immersion. It was like playing with a guy sitting right beside you reminding you that you are playing a video game.

>almost every npc had a grotesquely ugly face
>the game had like 5 voice actors so it was pretty common for two character with the same voice to meet and talk to each other, mostly about goblins and mudcrabs
>radiant AI was a failure and every npc acted like a fucking lunatic
>the cities were way too small. compare the Capital City to Vivec.
