John Wick aside from the first two great action sequences was meh of a movie as a whole.
Everything after the club scene, from when John Wick gets captured by the mob boss to have a pointless cheesy overacted feels scene, to where instead of getting another cool well choreographed gun-fu scene for when he assassinates his son he kills pretty much all opposition with a sniper rifle and its done in a really mediocre way anti-climatic way.
Not only that but the movie especially starts to fall apart when he "fights" the mob boss, in a really disorienting and boring Car fight scene or whatever the fuck that was.
And were we really supposed to give a fuck about Willem Dafoe's character at all? That's John Wick's motivation to be like "oh wait no now I got to try and kill the main boss when the movie has lost all it's momentum"?
It's just a badly structured movie that has the gimmick of having cool gun fight choreography.
I think /tv/ just jerked off to it because the first 2 action scenes were really good compared to most action movies, and MUH 80s AESTHETICS.
It reminds me of how overhyped Drive is, but at least I had a bit of fun watching John Wick. Even though it's not that good.
