Personally, if it's not grid based I don't consider it a dungeon crawler. But you're right, I've seen people on /v/ calling Rune Factory a dungeon crawler.
They're addicting, challenging and pure fun, that's all that I can really say.

I really like the Etrian Odyssey series because EO1 was my first dungeon crawler and I got hooked. I started Dungeon Travelers 2 and I have some complaints, but I'm still going to play it. I have Wizardry 6, 7, and 8. I guess I like dungeon crawlers.
Does 3DS have any DRPG's other than EO? Kind of jealous of all the Vita games

One of my favorite genres. Enjoy EO and glad it's continuing to exist. Played Demon Gaze on the Vita and now playing Moe Chronicle (and waiting for the English sub for Moe Crystal), looking at getting DT2 in the future as well as Stranger of Sword City and Rey Gigant (that someone in a handheld thread recommended).

The battle system is divisive and the final boss is bullshit but it's one of the best games in the franchise. They should have gone full EO and include map drawing, when you reach a certain infamous sector you really miss it.

if it's saying what I think it is, programs can actually coerce the PC-Speaker to play actual sampled audio instead of just beeps, I remember a lot of old games and shit advertising "digitized sound" meaning voice samples and shit
it's somewhat CPU intensive though (for the time, and the CPU spent most of its time fiddling with the speaker registers constantly) and a bit tricky to implement, since it's not entirely straightforward
one DOS program I can think of off the top of my head that supports that is Fast Tracker II (it has a somewhat quiet high quality mode and a 1-bit loud as fuck PWM mode)

DT2 is a pretty solid dungeon crawler, behind the obvious pandering.
If you want to discuss something that is basically just for the sake of fapping, then Moe Chronicle is the game you're looking for. You strip down 'monster girls' (who look like nothing more than your typical anime girls in bad cosplay) by attacking articles of clothing, then use the touch pad (sometimes both) to rub various weak points on their body to get them to join your party. It's got some nice mechanics, but the story is bland and the locations are pretty generic.I enjoy it, but I'm obviously weeaboo enough to play it.
