GTA Online public is awful trash. Playing with friends online is good fun until you realize the game has little content and the transitions between menu screens for shit like TDM and races take an age.
occasionally with my friends. But we're a little bored of it.
I pirated the game, but I might buy it during the next sale to play with friends.
its an off/on experience. i'd play it a lot more if i could actually do the damn heists. they are NOT something you want to try doing with randoms.
got about 25 million. spend most of my time i do actually get to play screwing with peasants, watching my yacht blow helicopters and planes up, and doing VIP missions.

I would but online seems mostly dead on PC and doing missions with randoms is almost impossible. I do like to goof around and explore the world once in a while, which is all I really wanted from GTA multiplayer.

Theres hundreds of missions, races, lots of gametypes, freemode events, and tons of shit to do. Not to mention the gamemodes users have created on the rockstar creator like cars vs snipers or even deathrun. You are not taking advantage of all there is to offer or you just don't know.

I play it every now & then, usually when they do new updates and there's new content. I remember being disappointed with the last two updates though and still have most of my money.
I really don't have the energy to play it as it's basically no fun until you grind for ranks and money. I have no interest in doing heists with random assholes or playing TDM endlessly. I would have liked to just hop online, jump in a jet and have fun but instead they went for some mediocre MMO.

Yeah I've been playing it recently. Freemode is absolute trash though since people's first instinct is to shoot you. It's uncanny. I saw someone heading towards me so I turn on passive mode. He tries shooting me and notices he can't kill me, so he just drives away. Like really. I usually just end up bothering them in return in passive mode, just follow them around and do stupid stuff until they get sick of it. I don't know if I'm being even more retarded, but I find it terribly amusing to pull out the anime mask and hassle those decked out jokers until they leave. Sometimes they'll turn friendly but then I don't even know what to do with them, so maybe those other guys actually have the right idea

I usually try to seek out low level players, under lvl 50, since they always seem to be the least likely to shoot on sight and the most likely to join in on fun shenanigans.
The heists are actually great fun with some bros. They're legitimately difficult and provide some pretty interesting challenges. Fuck Prison Break and Pacific Standard.
Free world is fun if you've got a friend with the insurgent. You can destroy the entire lobby, even if there's cheaters (without invincibility).
Going golfing is fun, the Lamar missions are pretty decent, the contact missions are okay. There's a bit of content hidden away, you just have to ignore the shitty community.

More than once, I've found someone robbing a store with the police surrounding them and I've tried to land a helicopter near them, offering a ride. They shoot me every time.

I think this is part of the reason for why they push the crews so damn hard because all people seem to do is shoot first and ask questions second. Playing with friends is about the only real decent way to get by without getting a bullet to the head.

I only play in an invite only lobby with friends. I made the mistake of joining a public lobby around Christmas

It's because there are no other meaningful, instant-gratification forms of interaction. Like when I first tricked up a drift car I used to drive up to people in their cars, donutting and drifting around them to try and challenge them to some kinda casual race/drift-off. Rather than putting in effort to actually take me up on the offer however they'd just shoot at me, because spraying bullets in someone's direction is easier and provides the more instant payout of a kill and even an exploding car.
I played for ages with randoms, swinging from really good moments/heists to really crappy days with lobbies full of trigger-happy kids in armoured cars. It wasn't until I got involved with /vg/ antics, and I went out country with a guy from there, found two bikes and starting jumping dunes, pulling tricks, that I realised just how much Rockstar had fucked the whole thing up by not giving more incentive not to just deathmatch everyone you see. That, couple with how linear heists are, just makes the game so dull.

Locked behind instances with garbage matchmaking and 10 years of load times before you get to do anything fun.
And when you finally get a lobby going, you end up finding out that those game modes are shallow as fuck because it's all strictly structured and controlled. You can't play any of those modes or missions in the way you want without poppa Rockstar telling you to fuck off.

Me and some dudes spent hours trying to get past the prison escape on hard mode and just when we get on the escape plane the game glitches on us

I think the balance to this is if you do end up killing a player, you end up getting an automatic wanted level (maybe 3 stars). If you have a wanted level on you that's high enough, then you pop up as a target on the hud if you're near the area.

I use the Massacro Racecar and next to no one beats me to heist locations when I drive it. That car is basically as fast as the supers and has way better handling so you can actually navigate through traffic at top speed with relative ease. I've pimped out 2 low riders for cruising with homies during heists though and while they drive like boats they are pretty fun to mob around in.

I hope they'll expand the map. Probably a slim chance of that though, but I'd still like to see them add Venturas and Fierro. They could be standalone games but carried over to the San Andreas map. The V map feels like the entire eastern and northern coasts are just filler for a map expansion anyway, the western side actually has a coast you might go to but the other side is covered by hills that you never climb. Probably just to give the illusion that the land continues beyond them
