Finally beat this. And I gotta say, the empty feeling is real.
Doesn't help that I got a bad ending.

I got that empty feeling after the Baron questline, because the rest of the game is so meh by comparison.

I know that feel.
>>
>>323723012
It would be easier to love Dijkstra if he didn't go absolutely full fucking retard at the end, nothing like he was in the books.

Geralt just came back from utterly slaughtering Radovid's best men and thus helping in kill the king, and Dijkstra proclaims that he'll kill all of his friends and that he's backstabbing all of them at the same time. All while having a whole of three chucklefuck guards that die in three hits with him.

What the fuck, CDPR.

How can you not get the good ending?

All you have to do is have some fun with Ciri.
They're even the logical choices.

I unintentionally made a bunch of choices she didn't like (like bringing her to her father and then taking the reward instead of refusing it).

Fuck me. I didn't think it would impact the story that much. Now I just feel like a piece of shit ;-;

You didn't even get to the best and comfiest part of the game.

to people who like this game, do you actually enjoy the hundreds of repetitive sidequests?

or do you just have bad taste/lack of vidya experience

this game is nothing special
>>
>>323724150
are you implying they're bad?
>>
>>323727552
The amount of variance in the dialog always seems to amuse me
>>
>>323727552

They do drag on a bit towards the end, but it's interesting for a while as you keep finding new creatures
>>
>>323727552
I appreciated how none of them were fetch quests or MMO style and had unique stories. Design-wise they're nothing special, but what else can you expect from a witcher? If you want inventive dungeons and puzzle solving quests play something else.

>or do you just have bad taste/lack of vidya experience

>this game is nothing special

Judging from the people who enjoyed it, it would seem you're the minority here who didn't enjoy it. But of course you're the one with the patrician taste so who cares right?
>>
>>323726521
A couple of them really aren't though. Letting ciri face the lodge alone without any backup when Geralt knows Phillipa engages in mind control and all sorts of other manipulative shit doesn't seem very smart. Destroying your most important ally's lab for no reason other than Ciri getting her feelings hurt is another stupid choice. I get what they were trying to do but those two choices were pretty iffy.

>hundreds of repetitive sidequests?

That's wrong though. Everyone agrees that the game has the least repetitive sidequests in an open world game in a long time. Well, everyone that played the game at least.

>helping a troll that's been recruited by the Redanians paint the flag on his fortress
>accepting a contract to clear a manor of monsters, only to find an old witcher friend has set up shop there
>lifting the curse off of a werewolf with everlasting hunger and eternal life
>running into a nilfgaardian deserter about to be lynched by peasants, slaughtering his attackers only to realize you killed three men to save one

Would you prefer "PLEASE RETRIEVE MY FAMILY'S SWORD FROM A RANDOMIZED BANDIT HIDEOUT" quests instead?
>>
>>323728891
its not a matter of opinion that extreme over-use of side quests to artificially inflate a games content is a bad thing, its pretty much fact, and lazy game design.

W3 has some things going for it, but not enough to win any awards.
>>
>>323729145
It was a misclick, I swear.
I already had like 10k at the time.
>>
>>323729331
Yet almost every single one is go here, use witcher sense until you see the red things, follow red things, kill something.

shit m8
>>
>>323729517
The witcher senses are overused, but the rest of what you said is completely wrong. You can make anything sound shit if you oversimplify it, shitposter-kun. Morrowind is literally just

>read dialogue
>go to place
>talk to guy
>fight some enemies
>go back to original guy

Total dogshit.
>>
>>323729281
Yeah its actually kind of easy to get the bad ending if you don't take Ciri to go see her father.
>>
>>323729402
But the side quests in the Witcher 3 weren't lazy...
>>
>>323729726
Morrowind had loads of shit quests, bad example.
>>
>>323729517
Oh god shitposters are so desperate they will literally post about things that are factually wrong.
>>
>>323729726
I wouldn't use Morrowind as a standard for TES quests
>>
>>323730057
Name an rpg with great quests
>>
>>323729402
>artificially inflate

If you had to walk 10 minutes between each objective then sure, but having a lot of content isn't "artificial length". Especially when considering most of the side quests had quite a decent amount of effort put into their presentation, you can't say that is some low effort attempt at artificial content it should be seen as a good thing.
>>
>>323730203
>attacking the game instead of the point

Outstanding straw man, are you a farmer?
>>
>>323729726
Morrowind is also a shit game, so is oblivion and skyrim. For all the same reasons.

Witcher 3 has a slightly better combat system though, but is ultimately still terrible.
>>
>>323730449
Am I the only one that hated the combat in TW3?
>>
Dark souls has no side quests, and yet still provides a 30-50 hour experience.

Why are they even necessary in any game.
>>
>>323730554
>Am I the only one that hated the combat in TW3?

On /v/ no, you're in fact in the majority.
>>
>>323730214
Sidequests? Oblivion, if you want to talk TES. Witcher 2 had some good ones. The major sidequests (chasing Crach's kids or fucking around with Keira, for example) in W3 were out-fucking-standing, but those were fairly rare, especially compared to the shitty witcher-sense contracts.
>>
>>323730602
>Dark Souls has no side quests

Did you fucking play it? It did.
>>
>>323730554
Why did you hate it?
>>
Can Ciri become empress if you don't kill Radovid?
>>
>>323730554
Not at all, the combat in W3 is fucking shit. All im saying is that it is slightly better than elder scrolls games. Which are so fucking poor they are literally minecraft tier.
>>
>>323730602
Because you spend most of your time dead.
>>
>>323727751
It looks like someone took Mass Effect 2 and made it medieval
>>
>>323730753
For some reason it just didn't feel fluid to me. I never felt like the combat in any of the Witcher games really felt very fluid (at least TW2 and TW3, never played the first one).
>>
>>323722534
Stop playing meme games, then.
>>
>>323725845
I chose no. It makes sense because Geralt wouldn't want anything to do with royal courts now, especially not the overbearing nilfgaardian courts.
>>
>>323730793
So true. The combat in Skyrim is so fucking terrible I don't even know why it has combat.
>>
>>323729517
those are fucking witcher contracts , what do you expect

the game literary singles out categories for you retards to know what its about and you still pretend to be retarded, or atleast i fucking wish
>>
>>323731564
Even then the witcher contracts all have their own story or spin to them. There isn't a single contract in the game that's just "go here and kill this monster", there's always something more to it.
>>
>>323731564
Call them what you want, they are not fun, and are pretty much as good as this game gets.
>>

>>

>>
did they ever fix that bugged werewolf part?
>>
>>323732702
Not even close to worth it.
Gold's stupid easy to get in the game.
>>
>>323732702
4000 crowns which is chump change by that point. If the economy system in this game wasn't so fucked with loot up the ass and contracts paid less it would be a ton of money and make sense lore-wise.
>>
>>323728213
>as you keep finding new creatures

Too bad most of them are reskins.
>>
>>323732502
It is pretty convenient but to be fair a huge focus of the series is on the wildly different worlds and how they interact with each other because of the conjunction of spheres. It kind of has a built in reason for there to be a character that can teleport.
>>
Wait, what was the bad ending? I got ciri becoming empress even though i remember saying something against that happening
>>
>>323729331
Everyone? Only witcher fanboys can say something that stupid.

All the hunter quests are the same:
>Talk to a shitty NPC
>Someone is death or dissapeared
>Go to see what's the problem
>Search and read the repetitive clues
>Kill de monster (there are quests even with the same monsters)

The "?" quests the same,
>go to "?"
>inspect corpse
>take the key and "read" the letter
>open the chest

Only the secundary NPC quests are good and have variety
>>
>>323732502
>implying she's a mary sue
Anon pls
The b8 is so real
>>
>>323733609
>only the secondary npc quests are good and have variety
And they're also plentiful. The witcher contracts serve as a way to get gold, the story behind them is just a bonus.
The secondary quests and main quests are what makes the game great. I can't think of another RPG released recently that executes this as well as this game did
>>
>>323733393
In the bad ending Geralt assumes that Ciri died because she never came back from the white frost. The last scene is Geralt basically committing suicide by letting a horde of monsters come at him without doing anything to defend himself.

The empress ending is definitely bittersweet but I wouldn't necessarily consider it bad. Ciri is assuming her potential and responsibility as an empress in order to change the world for the better.
>>
I thought witcher 1 was the best of them although it had the worst gameplay. The story was a lot better. Hunting a monster was way more interesting, and having to research them + prep time was pretty cool. The choices felt like they had gravity.
>>
>>323733168
There is no to be fair about it, it is lazy as fuck and only overlooked because nobody expects a bunch of dumb fucking europeans to do any better

Will there be a Witcher 4? Seems like Geralt's story was pretty rapped up at the end of 3 but they'll probably make more Witcher games just to milk some more money out of the series

CDPR are ending Geralt's story and effectively retiring him but left the Witcher franchise open. They have the next Witcher 3 expansion to work on then Cyberpunk 2077 so don't expect anything with the Witcher IP soon.

why are they retiring geralt? god tier protagonist
