Any good? It's -66% on Steam right now. Is the Ultimate Edition worth it?
>>
Good singleplayer rpg with mmo elements added for no reason. Worth it.
>>
the best single player in an MMO, you do meet other players constantly though
adventure game tier puzzles and amazing atmosphere
>>
>>323693096
It's dying. Barely any people work on it and the newer programmers can't fix the fucked up shit the old ones left.
>>
Hope you cant stand shit combat
>>
Yeah i had alot of fun playing it when i did. The combat was pretty bad though (At least to me. Was one of the reasons i ended up getting bored and quit.)

But playing dress up is fun the quests are great and of course ill assume you will go the correct faction and join Templar.
>>
Literally Google the answer: The game.
>>
>>323693596
probably true but what there is is worth long months of play, and the steam sales made sure there are loads of new players

Yes. Not for the typical MMO stuff but the atmosphere and writing is god tier. Get the Ultimate Edition or prepare to pay like $100 to get all the late game content, which you will want if you decide to stay.

con: tab targeting combat,

Templars and illuminati are the best choices.
The only retard choice is dragon
>>

the ultimate edition has all the issues up to the last 2 (12 and 13)

if you end up sticking with it then the ultimate edition is certainly the best--a DLC issue is like 10 bucks in Funcom funny money.
>>
>>323694583

I never looked up any a walkthrough but having the clue 'My wife's name' and then going to the company website and seeing a fucking quote from him where he mentions his wife's name is the most shallow fucking 'puzzle' I have ever seen in a game. Quit right then and there. That's almost as bad as 'Wait... that card...'

No.
ive said this before and ill say it again. Ive shilled for this game for years (even made images for it that are still used to this day in TSW threads).
..And then they killed it with tokyo. They lied for a full year, started selling power, literally made it where you couldnt turn a quest in unless you paid them more money, falsely advertised multiple times, changed the entire concept of the game from a 'play as you want, build as you want, no levels and no limits' to 'we're gonna make you grind like its a 2001 korean MMO' and all of this ontop of broken promise after promise.

Before tokyo launched, I would have given this game a solid 9/10. Meh combat, but amazing atmo, story and writing. Post tokyo? I wouldnt give it a 3. The original 3 locations are amazing still, but after all the lies, broken promised, retarded choices the devs keep making, selling of power, reused event after event, the obvious money jewing theyve devolved into.... I just cant bring myself to even recommend it for the first 3 places. And this is coming from someone who would have bought it for you less than a year and a half ago just so you could experience it.
>>
>>323694928
I don't see why anyone should join the Illuminati.

It's literally meme: the faction. You get a quest and there's some shitty meme from 2005 in every sentence. I recommend Dragon or perhaps Templars, but no way should you ever join Illuminati unless you're 12 years old.

it does get crazy hard sometimes though
>>
>>323695176
I didn't know anyone took the MMO gameplay in TSW seriously. I mean, I have enjoyed doing dungeons in the past but that's definitely not why I keep coming back.

>>323695427
EA has nothing to do with the game anymore. They published it initially but Funcom has all the rights nowadays.
>>
It's one of those MMO's that should have been a singleplayer RPG.
>>
>>323695419
What map are you talking about? The game uses real life names of regions. Such as Egypt, Venice, etc.
>>
>>323695427
Even though I told him not to get it, WA has nothing to do with it anymore outside of their logo. They wanted to drop the game for about a year before launch, and Funcom wouldnt let them out of their contract. So, as publisher, they got to chose the launch date. They chose the 2 week range of the new WoW expansion and GW2's launch. And after the first month when numbers where shit (mostly due to no ad's and that horrid launch window), they said either shut it down or we want out. Funcom bought the rights out and put it on steam, but EA kept the right to have their logo on it.

It's not that open world, but yes, technically you can move from region to region if they're connected and you probably have to for a lot of them because only then you can fast travel to that location.

In any case, you're using a transportation system called the Agartha most of the time. Which is like a train system, kind of.

Has nothing to do with the MMO gameplay.

It has to do with them adding in new sprints that you cant get without spending real money, and said sprints make you invisible to all enemies.

Or when they said tokyo wasnt going to be an issue, but rather a location (like portsmouth, trans, egypt) and the issue would take place IN tokyo and that tokyo would have some missions (so you could keep going with the plot) but a huge chunk was behind the issue pay wall (like they did with issue 8, the V.C) and even did a year long event to gear people up so everyone could go... but then, about 2 weeks before launch, announce that you needed to buy tokyo and that it would be a 3 issue trilogy.

or when the final issue of tokyo was coming out, they advertised the "complete tokyo set", which came with every single tokyo issue, including the final tokyo issue, and all past issues and side quests. Then the director saying that the final tokyo issue launching was the FINAL tokyo issue, that no more issues would take place in tokyo, that it was the end of season 1, and that season 2 would start after that issue launched and will have a brand new location, like tokyo. Then, 3 weeks later, announce another tokyo expansion and the owners of the "complete tokyo set" would not get it. And then, after that, announced a 5th tokyo issue.

I can go on and on over their lies and bad shit over the past 2 years. This is just basic shit in the past 7 months.
>>
oh, no, you travel between the 4 regions through Agartha. It's a big honkin' portal tree in bee-space.

dragons were pretty boring despite being 'chaos' faction, but Daimon became the new faction contact at the end of Kaidan's story arc. He's japanese Joker and is a barrel of fun.

> and said sprints make you invisible to all enemies.

>>323694436
Its not so bad because issue 12 is dungeon bullshit so you can skip it. If you are a new player then use the free 1200 funcom money for issue 13
>>
>>323696690
They don't make you invisible and never have, all they do is change the animation and look of your sprint and nothing else. You might be running too fast for enemies to catch up, though.

Do you have to use steam for this or can you buy it on steam but use the key in a standalone client? I prefer standalone clients so I don't have to look at how many hours I waste in an MMO.

I played it shortly after launch and only have the base game and issue 5. Are the issues released afterwards as good as issue 5 or did they turn it into MMO grindfest bullshit?

Anyway I guess I'm asking what exactly I should buy to get the good stuff, the ultimate edition + the last two issues? Just the ultimate edition?

>>323697306
It does not make you faster than sprint-4 at all and the stealth portion of it comes with a caviat as well. Stealth is on a long cooldown and it removes your sprint/speed, so basically you're slow as fuck when you're stealthed for those few seconds.

Nothing to see here boys
>>
Mediocre.

Funcom is in debt and will probably not make it into 2017.
>>
yeah, once you've finished up kaidan you're done with the story (as it is now)

for people who absolutely must grind in the MMO they added a korean-tier grindan. Grinding AEGIS controllers, grinding the currency to put together 3 separate gear sets (you can be healer, tank and DPS and want a suit for each role...) and grinding scenarios so many times you could close your eyes and run them for Augments which you'd have to have some impressive autism to ever actually finish up. the drop rate on the gold augs is so fucking low...and you need so FUCKING many to level them up...

just enjoy the story.
>>
>>323697885
>just enjoy the story.
how is the story after transylvania? I dropped the game when I was mostly done in the region for various reasons, and was thinking that maybe its time to reinstall

>>
>>323697764
Yes it does.
its the same as sprint 6, and sprint 6 is pay only.
Its 25% faster than sprint 5, as sprint 5 was 25% faster than sprint 4, etc.
>>
>>323698101

Kaidan story is, uh, different. The original story was sort of Lovecraftian things?

Kaidan has John. You're his pal, Chuck.
>>
A friend let me try it. The mmo and the shit combat killed the atmosphere, and subsequently the game, for me.
>>
>>323697807
They just released a dlc and are planning on releasing the park on consoles. They aren't in too much shit now.
>>
>>323699709

the Park is something I wouldn't recommend to anybody if they're not a TSW player.

I look at it strictly as supplementary story content for TSW. As a stand-alone game it's like an Early Access game. It had a solid idea behind it, but it was way too short. Imagine if Silent Hill 2 was just taking a solitary stroll down from your car to the lake hotel, bouncing between bitching about your dead wife and missing her, without anything in between except some rides where you catch sight of spooky things, and the total runtime was about 70 minutes. that's The Park
