3 missions from the end of the Nohr path and I can't be bothered to finish it.
For every interesting thing or good design decision, Fates has 3 things fall flat or simplified for the worse from the previous games. Where Awakening was basically all of the stand out features of the previous 12 titles rolled in to one 'this is our last game for reals' package, this seems like a copy-paste of that formula with a new gimmick that doesn't do much but artificially inflate the content and price point.

More of the same minus good characters, interesting maps, game play systems that have been around since the 80's (weapon durability, longbows, etc) and a campaign that spreads over 60 missions.
If you're in to mediocrity than go for it, but Fire Emblem has fallen from grace since Shadow Dragon, awakening was the nail in the coffin, and Fates is digging the hole.

It's known as Fire Emblem If in Japanese. The individual sides are known as Black Night Kingdom (Nohr/Conquest) and White Night Kingdom (Hoshido/Birthright) if I'm remembering correctly.

The problem with removing weapon durability is that they made everything that isn't iron have big drawbacks. Silver weapons, for example, debuff you every time you use it, and bronze weapons are incapable of landing duel attacks.
There's 6 missions you do before you pick a faction and then another 20 or so after that, plus paraloges.

I think both are fine personally. I did like the JP convention a little better though. So if you picked Nohr it would read as Fire Emblem If (you choose): Black Night Kingdom. That's not even a name change I have a beef with. Marx's name change is something I dislike though.
