Halo 3 was not the best game by any standards, but it had a hell of a lot of charm. In fact, the charm was my favorite part of the series. Bungie back then was the most earnest bunch of developers who fucking LOVED to make vidya, and did everything in their power to make long-term and well-loved games that they themselves cherished. They put so much love into this series that I honestly can't help but break into a tear or twoor a fountainlistening to the classic themes of all of the games. They set the standard for dedication in gaming. Maybe they'll come back someday and try their hand at something new. Maybe one day Martin O'Donnell will return. Maybe someday the Bungie I loved will come back.I like having happy thoughts once in a while.

Makes the Halo 3 version so much better. Plus, it's not purely about the music/imagery, it's about what they remind me off. They remind of the community that Halo 3 had, the friends I found in that community. A community that has yet to be rivaled by any other game and it's been over 8 years.

played the first and the third. first game is like a slower more methodical quake with vehicles. shit campaign.
halo 3's campaign is better but moves even slower. game is better balanced but there's a lower skill ceiling as most things have a particular and easy to use straight counter but are near invulnerable to everything else. some of the super weapons are dumb (like most maps are just a constant fight for the spartan laser / rocket launcher) and some like sandbox (or sand trap?) are way too fucking big for the speed the game moves. also vehicles were made much less fun to drive
