When you created the EmuNANDwhich was after downgrading, it literally just makes a copy of your SysNAND.
This can cause issues with things such as the presents when you install games constantly unwrapping.
It won't update your system either.
If you are paranoid about that still, you can use Tinyformat to do the system format.
I bought a $13 32GB UHS-1 SD card for my O3DS to replace an older, adapted 16GB mSD and holy shit the .cia installs are several times faster. It used to take an hour or more to install a ~1.5 GB game, and now it's only taking 20-30 minutes. If you haven't gotten a newer, higher speed card for your 3DS, you really should.

Download the "CtrBootManager-1.2.zip" at the bottom of the first post on the gbatemp link you posted. Rename the boot.3dsx in your SD root to "boot_hb". Move both boot.cfg and boot.3dsx from inside that CTRboot .zip to the root of your SD.
Not sure what you're on about with the menus. FBI is installed through homebrew I believe.

I downgraded my 3ds and got to the point where I placed "firmware.bin inside \FOR SD CARD ROOT\rxTools\sys\" I copied everything over to my SD card root and put it back in to my 3ds. When I turned it on and held L to get to the homebrew menu, nothing happened, multiple times. I did what the error section on the retard guide told me to do. However, whenever I scan the QR code, open the website, and press the little slider (it was automatic before I downgraded, didn't have to press a slider) I get kicked out of the browser with an "An error has occurred." message. Now I'm not sure what to do, someone please help this retard.

Holy fuck im stuck on this stupid CTRBootManager step for the past hour. Everytime I get into it which is like 1 out of like 10 I keep either turning into a black screen right away or it says it can't find my emuNAND and is forced to use my sysNAND.

As of now any 10.3 or under 3ds can, Nintendo is sure to patch it soon and if they patch the browser method on 10.3, which if possible they will do and you cant downgrade.
Games do requires upgrades but with emunand you can continually update to play them
You're best bet is just to buy a 9.2 3ds down the line since they can do it as long as you dont update

I feel the exact same way... I think it's because I've already played most of the games I really wanted to on the 3DS already. Most of the stuff I pirated since hacking my DS is stuff I've been on the fence for. Plus I have a backlog of pretty damn good games on other systems.
What's more depressing though is looking towards the future. There isn't a damn thing I'm really excited for aside from Zero Escape Volume 3, and I already preordered that since the watch came with it for no extra charge.
