Yea ps2 was gimpy and the stick layout for the controller lame. Playing games on Dreamcast online was fun and no $40 memory cards necessary.
The controller seriously needed a revision, mainly a second stick to stay competitive, but Sega lost its foothold and continued on with Xbox. Even the Bleemcast improved graphics better than the ps2s shifty upscaling

They're a shell of their former self for sure. I feel as if today, Sega still have some creative geniuses hiding away, but the people who are running the company don't give a shit, and gamers today just don't care about Sega sans Sonic, Miku and Shogun.
I feel as if Sega really looked at themselves as a company, and the games they have they could probably find a way to make quick cheap games that could make a profit for them since I assume fear of bankruptcy is the reason they stick to Sonic. The writing has been on the wall since at least 2012. The last few pieces were put into place at the beginning of the year, and then Haruki took the reigns this past summer. The people who managed Boom and Colonial marines were the last shitty part of SEGA, and they got fired in that giant lay-off.
People were resistant in 2014 and 2015 because Boom came out, even though the trail of maneuvers leads back to 2008, but 2016 will be the year where it's undenyable. (Or at least 2017. There's gonna be a lot of shitposting this year. Vanquish PC port is going to be the moment when /v/ reconsiders their opinions, and there's 0 chance that's not happening this year)

Understandably, it makes sense to not have a sequel. Vyse and Co did travel the whole world and there isn't much else to do, they'd have to write something putting them in a new world, or a discovery of a new world that Vyse and co want to travel. I'd love to see any kind of recogonition to Skies though, prequel, sequel, remake, remaster etc.

Yakuza is starting to come back (which stopped because of bad sales here, so much for all those "fans"), PSO2 is great, valkyria chronicles got a full trilogy and 3 was portable perfection, sonic boom media is doing good for them, project divas coming, a new valkyria is coming, binary domain was ace, and they've published several smaller scale digital games in recent years that are very fun, the hype train has taken off for the 25th anniversary sonic game. Along with a steady stream of hd ports of their older classics.

It didn't make any sense to not localize the HD collection either. This is sega we're talking about here. You're less likely to see Kiwami localized for the west than a localisation for Yakuza 6. Because that would make too much sense for sega.
Sega is the idiot savant vidya industry.
They don't just have good ideas. They have incredible ones. Consistently, too. The wellspring never seems to dry up for them as far as quality, enjoyment and originality in games goes.
The problem is that they have no idea how to handle them and wind up murdering every single blockbuster IP they have. It's like every time they reach into their pockets, they pull out diamonds and then proceed to just flush them down the toilet.
Sonic, Virtua Fighter, Streets of Rage, All Star Racing, Dreamcast, Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue, Sword of Vermilion, all literally golden IPS. All killed by Sega's own stupidity. And that's just a few of them. There's a shitload more.

Actually the rumor was 0 and 5 would be ported to PC, not the HD collection. Localization of the HD collection doesn't exist (though the original games do) and there's no info on the HD collection being localized for any platform.
Even if it was though, fat chance of that ever happening. Sony had to fund Y5's localization that sega wouldn't pay for on their own to begin with.

It's kinda hard to be a Sega fan who is not butthurt. Like, you're a virgin who who loves women (god willing) but they do nothing but disappoint you.
Sega is honestly pretty fucking based. Easily one of my favorite game companies, both past and present. Despite an admitted slip-up around the time they were churning out shitty Sonic games, they've been pretty consistent and today are doing everything they can to live up to their golden age.
They've been very supportive of PC, and if the rumors of all the ports they've got planned turn out to be true that'll be even moreso.
Yakuza is one of my favorite series of all time, and is going stronger than ever. Miku games are weeb as hell but fun as fuck. Sega's even good as a publisher, supporting stuff like Alien Isolation and they're almost solely responsible for Platinum Games becoming as big as they are today.
