As much as the "HL3 CONFIRMED I WORK FOR VALVE" rumors happen, this one seems the most plausible.
No, it's not just because he removed it afterwards.
A big factor of Half Life 2 was showing off the engine's power. With the gravity gun and physics puzzles, it was at its core a "tech demo" for the engine. Not saying it negatively at all, but this was the direction Valve consciously took with the game. Naturally, with HL3 they will do the same thing with Source 2. The developer putting so much emphasis in physics and temperature and other dynamic elements of the engine, rather than the game play and story. That is much in line with what Valve would want to show first and foremost with Half-Life 3.
For this reason, any Half Life 3 rumor before Source 2 automatically had absolutely no reason to be humored. That's what makes this is the MOST plausible, even though it's still not very plausible in itself.

Sounds like they're just taking the L4D tech and taking it further. That too had an AI director that would randomize your experience, it really wasn't all that noticeable and they completely overhyped how much it would change each play session much like how that guy is claiming it will "never get old or tiring or repetitive".
