Everything after Knee Deep In The Dead in DOOM 1 was shit, and DOOM 2 started off shit. Compared to the massive asset variety of Duke Nukem, Shadow Warrior, or BLOOD, DOOM's levels were labyrinths without a goblin king.
They were boring. No landmarks, no memorable sections, just a mountain of shit levels that couldn't even keep up in complexity. And they got FUCKING lazy as the levels went on, some levels just being a bunch of shitty looking buildings crapped out on a flat map.
But I hate what the DOOM reboot stands for - from the fact that it's the same name as the original to its complete 180 in gameplay - because it stands for the erasure of a legacy. Where its okay to shit all over a series' past for a quick fucking buck. And I don't like that at all.

The translation is fine, the balancing is just shot out the asshole ("bring one of three armour-piercing weapons for every endgame fight or fuck off") and most of the maps are godawful.
