Splatoon is purely an online shooter. Not unlike CoD in the sense that some weapon packs get put out, maps get updated and general balancing occurs. Mario Maker is a world builder, not unlike mine craft or little big planet so naturally people want more tidbits to build with added. Zelda should be a core single player experience with nothing ad-hoc and no shitty patch updates. It should come ready to play as is

Come E3 2014 they announce it to come out in 2015, with Aonuma in December saying it will definitely come out that year.

Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword both got loads of heavily edited trailers from their reveals up to their releases. The tiny amount of footage given for what should be such a huge release shows that there's clearly some shit going on backstage.

They released four games in the timespan of 2000-2006, and those are the console games. Not the anon you're talking to, but there's no excuse for them to take this long with the game. The same shit happened with Skyward Sword, and that ended up worse than Twilight Princess Wii. How the fuck does that game have better controls than Skyward? The fact that they had to shit out Tri Force Heroes to tide Zelda fans shows Zelda U is either taking that long and it's going to be an amazing game, or someone dropped the ball, big time.
I expect a late 2017 release, and it won't live up to the hype. Expect another shitty spin-off title to be announced for 2016.

Nintendo's already delayed it a year. There will probably be riots in the streets if it doesn't come out this year.
I'm anticipating the release of this game, but it's odd how un-hyped I am for it. It's probably for the best, since that way I won't be too disappointed if it turns out bad, but I can walk away pleasantly surprised if it's good. Either way, it's completely out of my control so I'm not worried about it anymore.

Calm down, we'll most likely see something at E3, if not in a Nintendo Direct beforehand. I wasn't surprised when there was nothing at E3 last year because Aonuma straight-up said "we're not aiming for a 2015 release, we've got new ideas we want to implement" earlier in the year. We'll probably see what ideas bore fruit this E3 at the latest.

A lot of Jap devs liked Skyrim at release, and for whatever reason, Skyrim and Zelda have been compared a lot. I wouldn't know why as I haven't played Skyrim, but if it's anything like Bethesda's other games then I'm not looking forward to this.

I'm not sure if it's that or if it's just them taking their time. Zelda U got delayed because, at least as far as the PR we've been given, they had more ideas they wanted to implement and it couldn't do that and make a 2015 release at the same time. It's one thing to delay a game because of development issues but when the reason that's been officially presented is "we want to make the best game we can", I'm a little less cynical on the matter. If that's the case, Zelda U can come out when it's ready. I'm fine with that.
