I'm 28 and I sleep 10 to 12 hours a day. Fuck off National Sleep Foundation.

sleep comes first

it also happens to take away the pain better

Fuck no. All-nighters are great. Just chug down some pills when the headache is too annoying to keep going.

Why did they bother making too separate categories for younger adults and adults if they recommend the same amount of sleep to both?

you got work or something? just take a nap when you're sleepy, and if someone tries to wake you, tell them to fuck off

if you get fired, get a job that lets you work from home. your health is more important than your wealth
>>
>>323567665
How much sleep a specific person might need is very individual. That number you see is just an average.

I used to sleep an average of 5 hours a night and did just fine with it. Now I suffer from insomnia, though, and the various pills I take to combat it makes me sleep much, much longer.

>>
>>323567897
There's a lot about your post I'd get into but the short answer is no. Not entirely anyway, rest of some sort is required for cognitive stability. So unless everyone starts getting into meditation and scheduled naps throughout the day it's not likely.

I'm not fat and I don't touch sweet stuff, but it's true that I never exercise
>>
>>323568870
I have just about perfect values in everything except B12, which I take a shot for every couple of months, and my GP says it would be great if more people could be this physically healthy. It's not just fat people that have problems with sleep.

Without medication it takes me hours to fall asleep, if at all.
>>
I try to. But sometimes I just can't fall asleep when I want to. Perhaps I've become nocturnal.

that shit is for military personnel on a mission, it's not supposed to be sustainable for normal life

That's mostly because it's almost impossible to balance with a 9-5 job, not because it isn't sustainable in and of itself. If you have flexible working hours, or you're a NEET, you can do it just fine.

It actually does give your brain all the rest it needs.

I used to do all-nighters, but these days I don't find them to be worth it as I feel like hell for the next few days after doing one, as well as messing up my sleeping. Sometimes I'm engrossed in a videogame to the extent I might end up going to be at around 3am, but rarely does that happen these days.

Oh god, I'm not the only one.
Almost every night I just roll around on my bed, unable to sleep. I usually manage to pass out somewhere around 3-4 AM and have to wake up to work on 6.30.
After that cycle has gone for at least two weeks, three weeks top, I completely black out one night and sleep 15 hour straight.

night shift is the best shit ever.
30 minutes of actual work, 9 hours of paid 4chan browsing. I work at a refugee shelter, absolutely nothing happens at night.
The problem is when I have other shifts the next week. Though for me it's not as extreme as >>323573451's case.

Well, some people do, considering the pay usually makes up for it, and at least in my country, working shifts gets you a lot of free time.

For instance, working on an oil rig means 12 hour shifts for two weeks straight, followed by two weeks off, and it pays extremely well. You can go on fancy vacations every couple of weeks if you're inclined to.

Guy with fucked up schedule anecdote here: I didn't graduate because I hated how little I learned in school and got tired of all the busy work. Hooray, Murrican education system!

In retrospect, I should have just sucked it up and put up with the bullshit so I wouldn't wreck my future prospects and make climbing out of the hole that much more difficult, but teenagers do stupid shit all the time.

I do have a strong work ethic when there are monetary incentives involved though. Probably because I'm part beaner.
