I'm convinced that Bioware games all take place in the same universe. Because there is no way these bland, generics fuckwits aren't related.
Why does Bioware's game development strategy consist of always giving you the most useless, bland companion first. They're always a beta "soldier" type, vanilla upon vanilla (even when they're black or hispanic).
Please give me examples of games that give you a good/interesting companion at the beginning. Or post examples of your favorite companions.
Atton's entire point was that he was trying to be bland to hide the fact that he has a long and traumatic history that he's trying to wipe away by reddening himself with you. It's a fuck load better than blunt soldier with daddy issues

That said, Atton has already been mentioned, but I'll also say that people actually like Alistair, which is more than can be said for basically everyone else you've posted. He's generic in the same way all Bioware characters are, but I don't think he's bland.

That's all he does as he's a fool. I liked him during my first playthrough, but later on he became quite irritating.
As for Carth, he seems to be more easy going if you play female. I don't play females though, so I wouldn't know.

Alistair is one of Bioware's best and Jacob finding out what happened to his father was one of the best moments in the Mass Effect series. The closest it came to having a modern Star Trek vibe. Fight me.

I remember in an interview one of the devs did they basically said he exists because Freddie Prinze Jr wanted a part in the game and they could get him to VA for cheap. That's also why Iron Bull exists, aside from Gaider's Fetishes.
