honestly i think he's one of the best characters. at first i found him annoying, but as the game went on i found him genuinely likable and i enjoyed his presence. he grows on you and if you choose the ending where he dies, i think its one of the most impactful deaths i've experienced in a game.

Settled with weight-based limit, 4lbs for sidearm and 8lbs for a shotgun/rifle/smg. While on it, I changed damage and force to be caliber-based, fixed innacurate magazines capacity, equalized completely arbitrary damages of shotguns and made 40mm grenades fuze to contact instead of time-delay

I think it's a testament to the writing of the game that I actually didn't want to be that bad of a guy. The city felt so alive, and Niko so complex/likable, that I wanted him to do the right thing most of the time. What I find interesting is that morally, the game really makes you think that none of this stuff is really the right thing to do. The end of the game is basically a "wow so what" feeling. I was disappointed that in V, they threw all these moral questions away.
With IV and RDR it felt like Rockstar was starting to really mature.

The missions weren't as "wild" as other games but I think that was a good thing, made them feel really immersive and intense, and I often felt like I was being a badass. I thought BoGT was too over the top.

This was my favorite character. A lot of moral clarity came out from this guy. I love when he says "I'm not a good guy, but I'm fighting with them". He knows his methods aren't the best, and often criminal, and he doesn't pretend to be righteous about it, and yet he is still doing actions that are helping the country. I love really self aware characters like that. He even knew that Niko was feeling conflicted about everything, when he says "Finally this is a murder you don't have to feel confused about". Just a really awesome character.

its weird, the city is crazy detailed, and yet most of the story you don't explore nearly half of the city it feels like. there's a lot of cool little areas, its like a fully realized diorama of a city with so much care and attention to detail. like if you go around alderney there's a lot of really cool, ornate houses, and around dukes there's some beautiful parks and suburban areas

GTA IV has flying colors in its characters and Story. Theres a nice caked layer of depression as you drive around and earn money to get revenge against the man who betrayed you and your friends a long time ago.
The moment in the game where niko feels like he finally found peace but it has taken away from him was depressing as shit and made me pay so much to the story.

I always liked IV for its atmosphere but realized it wasn't a true GTA game. Still, it hooked me to the storyline and characters.
V is... a good game, but I feel distant from the characters. Trevor is boring, Franklin is too stereotyped, Michael is alright but it all gets muddled up by having to follow three different character development paths.
Where GTA V really failed big was on the heists, DLC and online play. Really fucking huge failure there.
