No car manufacturer will make any money when i sell my car and buy a better slightly newer used car down the line. Canon didn't make any money off me when i bought some lightly used DSLR gear last year. Those are accepted and protected practices. Why should video games be any different? Why do video game companies much such a big stink over used sales when companies in other sectors don't?

Actually, state-mandated protection for an individual, allowing them to profit in such a way that does not benefit all citizens, is a capitalistic idea. Communism seeks for the state to profit as a whole, rather than a single individual. Monopolies go against the idea of communism as it allows an individual to profit.
