Minus the "Second half", the characters were really poorly written, nothing really happens in the story, exposition moments are terribly handled, the soundtrack is 2 fucking tracks for 90% of the game, the game is so easily broken and the starting jobs are entirely useless.
THe character models leave a lot to be desired too. I dunno, I don't think anything was memorable or well done with the game, I'm surprised I managed to finish it considering how much I put it on hold.
So again, no, I will probably pirate it and give it a try to see if it picks up but I feel its unlikely. The 3DS just doesn't have many good RPGs, and think that's a huge factor in praising one that would have been easily forgotten on the DS (Like 4 heroes of light)

you could ensure your team got their attacks off first by changing each classes agility appropriately, then the last character on your team would cast stillness and the enemy couldnt damage you while you and your team gets 2 turns to rest. one person on your team would have hasten world making you have free bp while the enemy would have that too, it would be wasted because stillness didn't allow them to damage anything.
The other problem with the game is when bosses got high bp they got locked into certain patterns of attack that were technically easier. Like the final boss wouldn't use his debuffs at 2+ bp, he would prefer to dps. Debuffs can still get past stillness but since his behavior changes with high bp you didn't need to worry about it.

Pirate/Swordmaster is extremely strong. Pirate gets attacks that use up massive amounts of MP for high damage, and Swordmaster gets abilities that let you use attacks for 0 MP. Works real nice.
Dark Knight/fucking anything is very strong, especially if you hang onto the Blood Blade and use its active effect to cast Drain Sword.

I cheesed the dragons by using those element negate charms or whatever and having everyone but one person dead and just use the ninjas guaranteed evasion skill with the counter attack on evasion thing the whole battle
on full speed it took about 8 mins per battle at whatever level I was at on auto

I never liked Stillness/Quicken World abuse, but I did my own little thing:
>every character gets BP Recovery passive from Red Mage job so they gain BP whenever they are hit with an ailment

>another character has Slow World
>every round, Red Mage braves up and casts Poison on your whole team several times, giving them loads of BP
>Slow World means your enemies only act once every other turn in most cases
It's crazy strong. On top of that I had:
Tiz - Vampire/Spirit-master, using blue magic to do good damage and heal and Spiritmaster stuff for occasional panic defense
Edea - Pirate/Swordmaster for Free Lunch attacks
Ringabel - Dark Knight/Templar for extremely powerful Dark Knight attacks and occasional Rampart
Every attacker uses the Blood Blade's active effect on round 1 so their attacks drain tons of HP and they rarely need to heal. The Red Mage also has Salve-maker and uses Giant's Draughts on everyone in difficult fights for double max HP.
Only time this doesn't work is when the enemies use a ton of status ailments that are actually dangerous and you want to equip ribbons.

Man, having an Arcanist and a Spiritmaster on the same team was probably my favorite setups, but late game gets stupid difficult if you're not abusing BP shenanigans in some way. Having a Black Mage/Arcanist that can group cast poison then throw out some Exterminate is pretty fucking good as far as magic attacks go. Kind of outclassed once you get Black Knight, that thing has insane DPS.

It depends. Up until the halfway point, it is a fun little Final Fantasy game. After the halfway point, you open an optional ending, which really delivers on the idea that player choice determines the outcome of the game, and you get a cool ending that should have been the true cannon.
Instead, you either pick up just before the fake ending or miss it entirely, then get suckered into beating the game 4 times. Same dungeons, same enemies, not a lot of progress made until you get to the end which funnily enough feels kinda rushed once you get to it.
7/10 game for me, but I'm pretty generous and don't mind grinding.

What? You should have earned Swordmaster before waking the Fire Crystal, and that's the third continent. If you were having trouble with the cerebuses that counter physical attacks, I'd guess you're at the keep in the third continent, and ready to fight the biggest faggot of them all.
Your best bet for grinding up at that point and getting what you need is to make Agnes and Ringabel Black Mages and use spells that target the entire group of enemies so you don't constantly eat counters. If that's still kicking your hide, try going back to the continent and leveling up the Ranger class a bit on the cats and worms outside the town.
